Fire & Rescue NSW's purpose is to enhance community safety, quality of life and confidence by minimising the impact of hazards and emergency incidents on the people, environment and economy of New South Wales. As one of the world’s largest urban fire and rescue services, we manage fire emergencies in NSW’s major cities and towns. We respond to rescues, hazardous materials incidents and possible te

rrorism activities across the State. We work with other government agencies to minimise the impact of bushfires, storms, floods, landslides, building collapses, motor vehicle accidents and other emergencies. We also run prevention and preparedness programs to prevent these emergencies and reduce their impact on the community.

Happy international Dog’s Day for yesterday.

We are often asked about Mia the Fire Dog who we rescued.

Due to popular demand after our Menai Probus meeting talk, Fire and Rescue NSW Station 90 Menai was asked by our friends from St John Ambulance NSW to deliver a talk on our role as Professional Firefighters with Fire and Rescue NSW.

As a result, Firefighter Sharon Hodges who is attached to our Zone from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 080 Bundeena, attended the Sutherland PCYC on Monday evening (10th Aug) this week to deliver our informative power point.

A great evening was had by all and a big thank you to Firefighter Hodges for facilitating this eventful information night.

A massive shout out to Club Central Menai.

Yesterday we had the Club Central President, Mr Brian Cloney visit us at Fire and Rescue NSW Station 90 Menai with a cheque for $1500 dollars which was donated for the recent Vinnies CEO Sleepout.

As many are aware, Captain Brady Clarke, Firefighter Matt Burgess (Menai Fire Station) and Deputy Mayor Councillor Laura Cowell (Sutherland Shire Council) recently put a team together for this worthwhile event. Our Commissioner, Fire and Rescue NSW Commissioner, Jeremy Fewtrell AFSM was also in attendance.

The team attended White Bay Cruise Terminal for the night, sleeping on a piece of cardboard reflecting on what this hardship is really like.

Donations like this make a significant difference to a homeless persons life, and we want to thank Club Central for assisting us with this cause. When we mentioned this to the Board of Directors and Management, they said yes immediately.

Thank you so so much Club CentralπŸš’πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’

At 16:02 hours today, the crew from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 90 Menai (CAFS Tanker) responded to the M5 Motorway in the west bound lane for a truck fire at Milperra.

The incident was quickly upgraded to a second alarm with multiple FRNSW stations responding and upon arrival, a truck was located totally involved in fire.

The crew from CT90 got to work and utilised our foam capabilities on class A material (cardboard) in the back of the truck and after a period of time, relay pumping operations commenced.

The fire was extinguished utilising heavy machinery to remove the material, and the area was handed over to Transport for NSW.

NSW Ambulance and NSW Police Force were also in attendance.
