Grandparents & Friends Day

On Friday, 30 October, our Kindergarten to Year 6 students will be celebrating Grandparents and Friends Day at the Primary Campus. We warmly invite all grandparents, family members and special friends to join us for this wonderful occasion.

The day will begin with our K–6 Assembly at 10.15am.

Following the assembly, our P&C will provide morning tea for our special guests. Any donations of slices or sweet treats would be greatly appreciated.

Families are then invited to visit our open classrooms from 11.30am to 12.30pm, giving our students the opportunity to share some of their learning and classroom experiences with their special visitors.

Our Grandparents and Friends Day celebrations will conclude at 12.30pm.

We look forward to welcoming you and sharing this special day together!

For students who are leaving school and entering studies at TAFE or at University, CEF Merriwa supports you! Come along to The Studio at 6pm Thursday . Open to all graduates of MCS studying beyond their school education.

Merriwa Country Education Foundation invites potential scholarship applicants to an information evening. Scholarships are open to individuals in tertiary studies- TAFE, University or starting an apprenticeship. CEF Merriwa supports students who live in the local area, or students who have completed their studies in Merriwa.
Please come along to the information evening on 3rd September, 6pm, at Merriwa Central School Studio.

We had 7 students represent Merriwa Central at the Indigenous Talent Identification Day in Muswellbrook.

Students took part in a variety of fitness testing, skill based activities and small-sided games, giving them the opportunity to showcase their abilities, challenge themselves and develop their skills.

What a fantastic day and an incredible opportunity for our students to get involved, have a go and experience the pathways available to them.

Last Friday, Katie proudly represented our school at the Regional Athletics Carnival in Glendale, competing in the Shot Put event.
We are so proud to announce that Katie placed 11th, throwing an impressive distance of 6.23 metres!

Her dedication, sportsmanship and hard work leading up to and during the event were wonderful to see.

Well done, Katie! Keep up the fantastic effort! 🌟👏

🚀MERRIWA CS DIGITAL PROGRAM SUCCESS!

Merriwa Central School students recently took part in a Digital Media Marketing & Content Creation workshop with Stephanie from ACGLAV, supported by the Educational Pathways Program. They explored how social media powers business, discovered career pathways, and created their own digital ads.

✨ Results:
80% increased awareness of future study and employment options
80% developed new skills
90% feel confident applying what they learned

A great boost for employability skills and creativity in digital media. Thanks to Stephanie for an inspiring workshop!

After some well-deserved time to recover, we’re so proud of our students who took on the Winter Warrior Challenge at Lake Keepit, Tamworth.

We were lucky enough to take three teams along for the challenge, with our students tackling a massive 15km obstacle course. Throughout the day, they showed incredible teamwork, dedication and resilience, pushing themselves and supporting each other every step of the way.

Our results:

Minions – Best Dressed
Minions – 19th overall
Year 7 Crew – 22nd overall
Boys Team – 15th overall

With 35 teams competing on the day, these are some fantastic results.

A huge congratulations to all our students for taking on the challenge and representing our school with such determination and team spirit.

🏉 Jersey Day – Wear Your Favourite Jersey! 🏉

On Friday 4 September, students and staff at Merriwa Central School will be proudly supporting Jersey Day, a national awareness campaign that encourages Australians to start conversations about the importance of organ and tissue donation. Jersey Day was inspired by the gift of life given by 13-year-old Nathan Gremmo, whose organ donation helped save six lives.

Students are encouraged to wear their favourite sporting jersey to school on the day to show their support. There is no cost to participate, the day is all about raising awareness and encouraging meaningful conversations with family and friends about organ and tissue donation.

We look forward to seeing our school community dressed in their favourite team colours as we come together to support this important cause.

Our Year 11 students attended the Young Drivers Expo Tuesday in Tamworth, an engaging day focused on building their knowledge, awareness and responsibility as young drivers. 🚗

Students participated in a range of activities covering heavy vehicles, police drug and alcohol education, crash investigation, insurance, Transport for NSW, brain injury and the impacts of drugs and alcohol on driving. The day provided valuable real-world insights and important reminders about making safe, informed decisions behind the wheel.

A fantastic opportunity for our students to develop their road safety knowledge and prepare for the responsibilities that come with becoming young drivers! 💛

On Tuesday night a few of us were able to celebrate Katana as a finalist in the NSW Training awards at Town Hall in Sydney. This was a vocational education awards night and celebrates the success of people in all areas of skills across NSW. Katana was named as one of the the top three finalist in NSW for SBAT Student of the Year for NSW. What an achievement, and testament to her dedication, growth and maturity in all areas of learning, and the success in completing her Certificate in Wool Handling! Always a winner in our eyes- well done Katana and congratulations on your amazing achievement!
