Now is the time to check if your smoke alarm is working properly guys. If you have any doubts about your battery powered smoke detector then follow the link.

In winter, our community see an increase of 13 percent of house fires compared to the rest of the year.

In 44 per cent of winter home fires there was no working smoke alarm, or the alarm failed to alert when the fire broke out. That is why it is so important that you check that your fire alarm works.

Fire and Rescue NSW is aware of a large-scale IT outage impacting businesses across the state.

FRNSW’s Dispatch system is currently impacted, with dispatchers coordinating incident responses manually via telephone. FRNSW Radio network is operating as normal. FRNSW remains operational and available to respond to any request for assistance at this time.

Triple-Zero (000) is not affected by this outage.

The NSW SES advises people in the following area(s) to STAY INFORMED about predicted dangerous minor flooding on the Hunter River:

You should stay informed by monitoring warnings issued by NSW SES on their website and page, listening to your local ABC radio station, and checking the latest weather information from the Bureau of Meteorology online.

What are we expecting?

The Bureau of Meteorology advises a weak trough lies on the far north coast between Thursday and Friday. An inland trough is forecast to deepen and potentially develop into a low pressure system on Friday. The system is expected to bring rain to much of the state in the coming few days with locally heavy falls, particular in the east. There is still uncertainty associated with the location and intensity of the heaviest falls. The inland low and coastal trough are expected to move further south through Saturday with the rain easing over New South Wales. This rainfall has the potential to cause minor to moderate flooding along parts of the New South Wales coast and ranges from late Thursday.

Based on predictions from the Bureau of Meteorology, the following areas may be impacted by dangerous floodwaters:

Our fire investigators believe a Lithium-Ion battery was the cause of a fire that tragically claimed the lives of two Teralba residents.

When a Lithium-Ion battery is compromised, ‘Thermal Runaway’ can occur, a process where a Lithium-Ion cell overheats and gives off toxic gases before exploding in flames.

These fires are extremely intense and volatile, and like all fire, it moves incredibly fast.
