Our school hall was a buzz with excitement as students showcased their spelling skills this morning! Well done to all of our spellers who competed in today’s Miallo Spelling Bee and a special congratulations to those who placed first or second. These students will go on to represent our school at the District Spelling Bee in Week 9.

Year 1: Oakley & Westen, Year 2: Patrick & Elke, Year 3: Eleni & Finley C, Year 4: Etenia & Tyler, Year 5: Layton & Eleanor, Year 6: Ava and Sienna.

The mighty Mossman Show is growing closer and closer (Sunday 19 & Monday 20 July), but Miss M’Liss and some eager helpers have been growing something special in the lead up. Can you guess what it is?

That’s right! Miallo SS will have an entry in the Mossman Show’s Giant Pumpkin Competition (all going to plan 🤞🏻). Thank you, Miss M’Liss and her helpers! We can’t wait to see how big it grows (but no pressure).

Join us in our school hall on Monday for our Miallo Spelling Bee! The top spellers from each class will be battling it out and the top two spellers from each class will then go on to compete in the District Spelling Bee later this term. Good luck, spellers!

Our students are so lucky to have such a wide range of opportunities at Miallo SS. This week, we had two groups of Year 5/6 students join students from across the state with the Queensland Virtual Academy where they have the opportunity to engage in virtual enrichment lessons. One group is exploring biomechanics while the second will investigate autonomous cars and the future of driving.

We want to give a huge shout out to the amazing Duke’s Doughnuts for generously supplying their delicious original glazed donuts for our P&C pop-up fundraiser.

To celebrate National Donut Day, we’ll be holding our school celebration on Thursday 28th May, with all proceeds going towards our new junior playground project.

We encourage families to send the kids to school with a few gold coins so they can grab a sweet treat from the SRC tuckshop at first lunch.
