Dear Members,

We are excited to announce a new chapter for the Miami Aquatic Centre Surf Program with the appointment of Adam Pine OAM as Head Surf Coach and Ky Hurst as Assistant Surf Coach.

Adam Pine OAM — Head Surf Coach

Adam brings an incredible depth of experience as a three-time Olympian (Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, and Beijing 2008), along with multiple World Championships, Commonwealth Games, and international competitions. Following his competitive career, Adam moved into high-performance coaching and leadership with Swimming Australia, including senior roles within the Australian Para-swimming program. He also maintains a strong connection to Surf Life Saving.

Ky Hurst — Assistant Surf Coach

Supporting Adam will be Ky Hurst, one of Australia’s most accomplished surf and open-water athletes. Ky is a multiple Australian Ironman and Surf Life Saving champion, a former Australian representative, and a highly recognized name in Australian surf sports. He has competed at the highest level across Ironman events, ocean swimming, open-water competitions, and international ocean racing, including the prestigious Molokai 2 Oahu. Ky brings a wealth of practical surf experience, race knowledge, and a genuine passion for developing the next generation of athletes.

Together, Adam and Ky bring an exceptional combination of Olympic swimming, high-performance coaching, Surf Life Saving, and elite surf competition experience to our program. We look forward to seeing our athletes develop, perform, and reach their full potential under their leadership.

Please join us in welcoming Adam and Ky to the Miami Aquatic Centre Team! They will both commence this Monday 31st of August and will be on deck at 5 am.

A NEW CHAPTER FOR HIGH-PERFORMANCE TRIATHLON ON THE GOLD COAST 🏊‍♂️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♂️

We’re incredibly proud to see the doors officially open on AusTriathlon’s new High Performance Hub at Miami Aquatic Centre.

As the operator of Miami Aquatic Centre on behalf of the City of Gold Coast, City Venue Management is excited to see this community facility take on an important new role in supporting the future of Australian triathlon.

The purpose-built Hub will provide athletes and coaches with a dedicated environment to train, recover, collaborate and connect, supporting Australia’s performance pathway as we look towards LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032.

It will also become home to the Ascent Academy, supporting more than 90 national pathway athletes as they work towards the highest levels of the sport.

What makes this particularly exciting for us at CVM is seeing a facility that serves the community every day also contribute to the development of Australia’s elite sporting talent.

From the first swim lesson to the pursuit of an Olympic dream, aquatic facilities can play an incredible role in people's sporting journeys — and we’re proud that Miami Aquatic Centre is now part of that story.

The Gold Coast continues to strengthen its reputation as a home for high-performance sport, and we’re excited to see what this next chapter brings.

🥈 SILVER FOR MIAMI MAX & THE DOLPHINS!

Congratulations to Miami Aquatic Centre’s Max Giuliani and his Dolphin teammates Kai Taylor, Charlie Hawke and Sam Short, who teamed up for a brilliant silver-medal performance in the Men’s 4x200m Freestyle Relay!

The Aussies stopped the clock in 7:01.10 to secure 🥈, with the USA taking gold in a Championships Record 6:59.37 and Japan claiming bronze in 7:02.74.
