Mallee Family Care

Mallee Family Care Caring for people since 1979.
We are working hard to makes this the reality for the Mallee region.

Mallee Family Care is a not-for-profit organisation that has been supporting the communities of northwest Victoria and far west New South Wales since 1979. With federal, state and philanthropic funding, the agency employs 200+ staff to deliver over 70 programs and services with a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for vulnerable children, young people, adults and families who are facing dis

advantage. Mallee Family Care is a registered National Disability Insurance Scheme provider and offers childrenโ€™s and family counselling, mental health support, financial counselling, legal advice, early years support and also delivers a foster care program. The organisation believes it is important to support government policy that works to reduce barriers and expand choice and potential for all members of the community and as such, is a regional leader in advocacy, consultation and research. We know strong communities are those in which the disadvantaged are supported and where opportunities are available to everyone. We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we work and live. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging, and acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders as the first people. They have never ceded sovereignty, and remain strong in their enduring connection to land, water and culture. Mallee Family Care is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion. Everyone is welcome and supported to access our services, regardless of race, religion, gender or sexuality.

How well do we truly understand the families and communities we work with?

This thought-provoking workshop invites early years professionals to look beyond assumptions, examine privilege, and build genuine cross-cultural communication skills.

Drawing on cultural knowledge of the key CALD communities in our region, Danielle will guide participants through honest conversations about bias and what it means to provide truly inclusive, empathetic support.

You'll walk away with a greater understanding of our local communities, practical tools for cross-cultural communication, and a deeper appreciation of the courage and resilience behind every refugee's journey to Australia.

Neuroscientist, Thriving Minds Podcast host, Author and Brain Health Advocate Prof Selena Bartlett will deliver the keynote, exploring how the developing brain is shaped by technology, stress, connection, sleep, movement, and relationships.

Her session will offer practical, hopeful strategies to help parents, educators, health professionals, and communities build resilience, emotional regulation, attention, and well-being. Rather than fear or blame, this keynote focuses on what helps growing brains thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Attendees can then choose to join one of four concurrent workshops, presented by experienced professionals from English and Culture Learning Centre, MDAS Swan Hill, Robinvale Euston Early Years Network and Flourish Within.

Designed specifically for educators and stakeholders working in the early years and family and community service sectors, this year's event is not to be missed!

June is Pride Month โ€“ a time to honour and recognise LGBTQIA+ community ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ

It commemorates the ongoing struggle for equal rights, the achievements of LGBTQIA+ people, and the importance of visibility and inclusion.

At Mallee Family Care, we welcome everyone. We are continually working and advocating to create an agency, a community and a world where every individual and family feels loved, respected and valued for who they are, every day of the year.

Congratulations to Mildura Living Magazine on the launch of their latest edition this week.

We're proud to be featured in this edition and to share the inspiring story of Nate Lawn and his mum, Tracy. Earlier this year, Nate received a scholarship from the Chances for Children Foundation, helping him participate in more state-level tournaments as he works towards improving his ranking and pursuing his dream of representing Australia.

You can read Nate's story on page 34 of Mildura Living Magazine.

If you'd like to help more young people like Nate pursue their goals and reach their full potential, please consider making a donation to Chances for Children via the link below.

This week we proudly joined Monash University School of Rural Health, Mildura Base Public Hospital and Sunraysia Community Health Services to welcome four Occupational Therapy (OT) and five Nursing students from Monash University to the region.

Eve, PuiYan, KaHo, Sophie, Romina, Stephanie, Jeanne, Olivia and Grace will spend time working in local mental health care settings including here at Mallee Family Care - as part of their clinical placements.

This is the second year Mallee Family Care will host an OT student within our Mental Health Services program โ€“ reflecting our ongoing commitment to building a sustainable allied health workforce.

Thank you to the many partners who have made this initiative possible and a big, warm welcome to all students, including Sophie, who has joined us here at Mallee Family Care!

June is Workplace Giving Month and Mallee Family Care is proud to support Chances for Children through our Workplace Giving program.

Many of our staff support this charitable foundation by regularly donating a portion of their pre-tax salary. Their donations help to fund scholarships for people aged 24 and under to realise their dreams.

Chances for Children Scholarships provide financial assistance so young people can:

โ€ข Study at TAFE, university or an apprenticeship
โ€ข Stay in secondary school
โ€ข Take their sporting, music, leadership or arts talents to a state or national level

To date more than 2,250 Chances for Children scholarships have been awarded to young people living and studying in NW Victoria, SW New South Wales and Far West New South Wales.
