On this day, one year ago, two of our colleagues were tragically killed in the line of duty.

Today, and every day, we remember Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson and Senior Constable Vadim de Waart-Hottart and the tragedy that occurred in Porepunkah on 26 August 2025.

We thank everyone for their support and solidarity on this difficult day.

We will remember them.

A chicken kebab store in Lalor has been destroyed following a suspicious fire early this morning.

Emergency services were called to the Station Street scene about 1.15am.

It is believed the offenders entered the store from the rear before they set the shop alight, leaving a burnt-out jerry can behind.

One year on, investigators believe a NSW organised crime syndicate was responsible for the death of Athan Boursinos and received assistance from at least two Victorian men who allegedly helped arrange transport and accommodation.

Shortly before 9am on Thursday, 31 July, Boursinos was approached by offenders in a laneway behind a residence in Champions Parade, Wollert.

He was shot multiple times and was declared deceased at the scene.

The offenders fled the scene in a waiting Nissan Patrol, which was later found burnt out on Amery Street in Reservoir.

Do you know this man?

We’re hoping to identify a man who police believe can assist with their enquiries into a road-rage assault in Avondale Heights earlier this year.

Investigators have been told the driver of a silver Audi A3 hatch, assaulted another driver through the driver side window at the intersection on of Milleara Road and Buckly Street on 11 May.

Police have spoken to the registered owner of the silver Audi A3 hatch who has since been charged with failing to nominate a driver.

Officers from the Fawkner Divisional Response Unit have charged a man following a pursuit of a Nissan in Glenroy on 13 August.

Police responded to reports the Nissan was allegedly driving on the wrong side of the Ring Road about 2.20am, before officers lost sight of the vehicle in the vicinity of the Northern Memorial Park.

The Nissan was located in a dam nearby and with the assistance of the Dog Squad, the man was found hiding in the water and was subsequently bitten by a police dog before being taken into custody.

The 33-year-old Epping man has been charged with multiple offences and will appear in the Melbourne Magistrates court.

A woman, alleged to be a passenger of the Nissan was released whilst detectives make further enquires.
