It's Sausage Sizzle day!
Come along to the Millgrove Market and meet the members of Wesburn / Millgrove CFA .
Today you will have the opportunity to also have a chat with our amazing participants of this year's Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb.
These selfless volunteer firefighters will be climbing 28 floors of the Crown Metropol on Saturday 12th September in 25kgs of firefighting gear to raise funds for Lifeline, Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation and 000 Foundation .
Because of the generosity of Wesburn-Millgrove CFA, all of the money raised from today's sausage sizzle will be going to these awesome beneficiaries.
Our members will be at today's market until 2pm, so come along, say hello and buy a snag!
Donations can also be made via the brigade's MFSC26 profile page in the link below. 🙂

We may be known as Wesburn / Millgrove CFA, but we also work along side our neighbouring and many other brigades across Victoria, and even Australia, when the call for assistance is received.
This not only goes for fire calls, but also when training, and the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb is no different.
Over the past 7 weeks, Andre from Warburton Fire Brigade CFA has braved the early Saturday mornings training on the Mount Donna Buang observation tower with our members.
Andre has been a member of Warburton Fire Brigade CFA for just over 3 years and this will be his third year of participation in the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb.
Mental health is important to Andre, because of his personal experiences with trauma in the past.
He says that "climbing these stairs is one way i can turn that into something that helps others"
Andre's says that his personal goal for the stair climb is to beat his time from last year, which will be a challenge, because this year he will be on air and wearing heavier gear.
If you would like to support Andre with raising funds for Lifeline, Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation and 000 Foundation, you can donate via his MFSC26 profile page in the link below. :)

With just over 3 weeks remaining until the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb, it is time to introduce everyone to another one of Wesburn / Millgrove CFA's amazing participant's of this year's event.
Pete has been a member of the CFA for the past 20 years, with this year being his 6th year of participation in the gruelling event. His reason for choosing to don 25kgs of Structure Firefighting gear and walk up 28 floors of the Crown Metropol is personal.
When asked why he chooses to take on this exhausting event, he replied "at some point everybody is touched by a personal crisis, cancer or mental health issues, including myself. I feel, if i can help even one person through that and make things a little better, then i should do that".
And this is what makes Pete such an integral member of the CFA and our brigade.
His goal for this year's event is to just finish.
If you would like to support Pete with raising funds for Lifeline, Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation and 000 Foundation, you can donate via his MFSC26 profile page link below.

With just over 5 weeks remaining until the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb on 12th September, we thought that now would be a great time to introduce everyone to one of our amazing member's who will be donning 25kgs of structure firefighting gear, including breathing apparatus, and walking up the 28 floors of the Melbourne Crown Metropol.
You might ask yourself, 'why would someone be crazy enough to do this?'
Well, to raise funds for Lifeline, Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation and 000 Foundation, of course.
Tony has been a dedicated member of the Wesburn / Millgrove CFA for the past 23 years and this will be his 12th consecutive year of participation in the stair climb.
His commitment to the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb is all about improving the life of others through fundraising for Crisis Support and Cancer Research.
Tony's goals for this year's stair climb is to personally raise over $2000 and also to finish walking up the 28 floors in 25kgs of structure firefighting gear within 5 minutes.
If you would like to help Tony reach his fundraising goal, you can do so by clicking on his MFSC26 profile page link, below.
Every donation over $2 is tax deductable.

AusAlert is Australia’s new national warning system.

It does not replace VicEmergency and will only be used in certain situations.

AusAlert is being tested at 2 pm on Monday 27 July.

What to expect: You’ll get an alert on your mobile device. It will vibrate and make a loud, siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds - even if your phone is on ‘silent’ or ‘do not disturb’.

Safety: If this test could cause you or a loved one to feel unsafe, please turn off your mobile devices or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time. Leave them off for at least one hour.

As this is just a test, you don’t need to do anything. However, in an actual disaster you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.

To hear what an AusAlert sounds like and to learn more, visit ausalert.gov.au.
