NSW RFS - Millthorpe Fire Brigade

NSW RFS - Millthorpe Fire Brigade Millthorpe Fire Brigade is a New South Wales Rural Fire Service Brigade within the Canobolas Zone in Region West of New South Wales.

This is Millthorpe Fire Brigade's official page. Our brigade currently has 12 Active members, consisting of:
- 4 Officers
- 8 Firefighters

Our fire appliances include:
- 1x Category 7 Light Tanker (Millthorpe 7)
- 1x Category 1 Heavy Village Tanker (Millthorpe 1)

We respond to many types of incidents such as bushfires, grassfires, structure fires, vehicle fires, hazardous material inci

dents (HAZMAT), motor vehicle accidents/road accident, alarms and assisting other agencies. Millthorpe Fire Brigade, provide backup to adjoining RFS brigades and FRNSW stations at structure fires as well as responding to those in our own area. Some of our firefighters can be deployed to major campaign fires around the state or even interstate on a voluntary basis when needed throughout the bushfire season. All RFS volunteer firefighters are trained and competent to a certain level before being considered an operational firefighter. Millthorpe Fire Brigade as well as the rest of the brigades throughout the NSW RFS are ready respond to a wide variety of emergency incidents 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Sunday 25 January 2026 - Millthorpe RFB responded to a fast moving grass fire in Willis Ln, Millthorpe with the assistance of Brigades from Spring Hill, Blayney, Orange, Helitak 237 & Firebird 245 managed to contain the fire to approx 60 acres.

Crews will be back on the Fire ground Australia Day to continue to patrol.

Please be reminded Australia Day There will be a Total Fire Ban in place with EXTREME Fire Danger.

Santa will be in town this Christmas Eve and will be making his way around the village as listed below from 4:30pm.

Santa, will be staging at the Skate Park and then it will travel to cnr Pitt & George Streets, around to Church, Stabback, Unwin Street through to Hawke, Pilcher, Pearce, Montgomery Streets before a brief stop at Ashcrofts on Pym with our final destination the Millthorpe Hotel at approx. 5:30pm.

Santa will be making a few stops on his way around the village, he will be happy for photos and any last minute requests.

Santa's helpers will be giving out lollies at these stops - see map for details

FIRE PERMITS REQUIRED FROM THE 1ST OF OCTOBER

From this Wednesday the 1st of October 2025 we will see the Bush Fire Danger Period come into effect. Fire permits will be required in our area until the 31st of March 2026.

What you need to know:

- You are required to give at least 24hrs notice to your neighbours and the NSW RFS before lighting your burn.

- The permit holder must be present and have the permit on their person at the fire until it is fully extinguished.

- Permit holders must follow all the conditions outlined in the permit, keeping in mind permits may be varied, suspended or cancelled depending on conditions, and are automatically suspended on high fire risk and Total Fire Ban days.
