Today we held our Brigade AGM in the sunshine on the deck at Milsons Passage station, marking the 75th anniversary of the Milsons Passage Brigade.

Congratulations to all returning officers, and to our new Training Officer Ameli and Safety Officer Andrew.

Recognition was also given to brigade members who received The Premier’s Citations for their work during the 2022 to 2023 flood operations.

Appreciation to the District Fire Control Centre for their ongoing support, and to Grant, Nathan and Keith for attending.

Strong turnout from members, finishing with the usual BBQ sausage sizzle.

As part of our commitment to environmental sustainability, we're harnessing the roaming capabilities of cattle to provide temporary communications when service connectivity is disrupted due to major incidents like floods or bushfires.

The tactical CoW provides access to internet services, extended Wi-Fi and local radio repeater capability, using 4G and satellite technologies. With this new capability our CoWs are able to help communities reconnect if they're cut-off or isolated. Now that's what we call cow-nectivity!

A busy weekend on the water for Milsons Passage RFB.

Lillian and Lindsay crewed our Fireboat, Milsons Passage Boat Bravo with SES during the “Who Let the Boats Out” multi agency exercise, working through real time rescue, towing and search scenarios with RFS, SES, Marine Rescue and other agencies.

Michelle joined members from other water brigades at Brooklyn to complete Fire Boat Crew training, building the seamanship and safety skills needed for operations on the Hawkesbury. Thanks to our Senior Deputy Captain Graeme for supporting the training.

Great to see our members continuing to train and work with other agencies to keep our river communities safe.

What a year it’s been on the river and in our community. As we head into the festive season, the crew at Milsons Passage RFB wanted to share a little holiday spirit and even Santa gave our fireboat a nod as he made his pre-Christmas flyover early this morning.

Our trusty red fireboat has been out on the water keeping our community safe, and just like Santa’s sleigh, always ready to go at a moment’s notice.

From all of us at Milsons Passage RFB, thank you for your support throughout the year. Stay safe on the river and in the bush, keep an eye on the weather and fire conditions, and if you see unattended smoke, call 000.

Wishing everyone a safe, peaceful, and very merry Christmas. 🎄
