A big thank you to Brightwaters Christian College for the invite and for having us out on Tuesday πŸš’

Our crew had a great time meeting all the students and giving the kids a chance to get up close and explore our fire truck. We always enjoy opportunities like this to engage with the community and inspire the next generation. πŸ”₯😊

A reminder that Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday, 5th of April at 3:00am, when clocks go back one hour ⏰

As you adjust your clocks, it’s the perfect time to check your smoke alarms to make sure they are working correctly.

βœ… Test your smoke alarms
βœ… Replace batteries if needed
βœ… Ensure alarms are clean and dust-free
βœ… Check the expiry date (most last around 10 years)

Smoke alarms provide early warning and can save lives in the event of a fire.

At Peninsula, we love hearing from members of the public who call our station just to say hello and let us know how their day is going.
However, please note that we are unable to act on reports of fires made to our station landline.

Over the past few months, we’ve seen an increase in calls from the public reporting fires and asking us to attend. Unfortunately, we cannot respond to incidents reported this way.

If you see a fire, please call 000 and report it immediately. This ensures the incident can be handled appropriately and allows the relevant agencies to respond as quickly as possible.

We love hearing from the community, but please don’t report fires to our station landline.

πŸš’ Community Notice – Bushfire Smoke πŸš’

Residents in Bonnells Bay and surrounding areas may notice increased smoke in the area tonight and into tomorrow.

To avoid confusion, while the Fires Near Me app displayed a bushfire notification, this was automatically generated following a report, which is a standard process.

Please note β€” a notification does not always indicate a confirmed fire. It simply means a report has been received and assessed.

There is currently no fire threat to the local community.

The smoke being experienced is drifting from bushfires currently burning near Medowie and Nerong.

If you are sensitive to smoke, please consider limiting outdoor activity and keeping windows and doors closed where possible.

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates if anything changes.
Thank you for your understanding and stay safe. πŸ”₯πŸ’¨
