With just two months to go until the Denise Spencer Aquatic Centre opens on 12 December 2026, Council has adopted entry fees for the new facility.

There’ll be a range of options available for locals and families, including casual entry, concession pricing, family passes and annual passes.

Council has worked to balance affordability, equitable access and the long-term sustainability of operating the new aquatic centre.

Entry fees are:
• Adult casual entry — $5.00
• Child/concession casual entry — $3.00
• Family casual entry — $14.50
• Adult 10-visit pass — $45.00
• Child/Concession 10-visit pass — $27.00
• Family 10-visit pass — $130.50
• Adult annual pass — $250.00
• Child/concession annual pass — $200.00
• Family annual pass — $400.00
• Additional child on annual family pass — $50.00

"Our community has been incredibly excited about this project, and one of the questions we've been asked throughout construction has been about entry fees," Mayor Wendy Taylor said.

"We recognise that everyone will use the facility differently, and everyone's financial circumstances are different. By offering three levels of fees, we're providing greater choice and flexibility for individuals and families."

CARD PAYMENTS & KIOSK PRICE UPDATE

From today, 1 October 2026, card payment surcharges will no longer apply, following changes to Australia’s card payment rules.

There will be a small increase in some kiosk product prices to help cover ongoing costs, including card processing fees. These prices will apply whether you pay by cash or card.

There will also be a minimum spend of $5 for card payments. Cash is welcome for smaller purchases.

Look out Maranoa - A new council is coming to the region!

Maranoa Regional Council is excited to soon welcome the next generation into the Chambers through the new Maranoa Regional Youth Council!

Providing them with insight into the inner workings of Council, as well as a platform to share their views and aspirations, the Maranoa Regional Youth Council will be open to young people aged between 12-18 years who reside within the Maranoa.

Throughout the initiative, the youth-led leadership and advisory group will receive an abundance of opportunities including:

• sharing ideas, raising issues and contributing to decisions that impact the region,
• developing their leadership skills and connecting with Council, Council’s operational teams and the community,
• making a real difference to the Maranoa.

“We know that young people within our community have so many great ideas, aspirations and contributions to offer and as a Council, we are proud to be able to provide them with a program that will allow them to get involved and have their say,” Portfolio for Youth, Councillor John Birkitt said.

Expressions of interest for the Maranoa Regional Youth Council will open on Monday, 31 August and close on Friday, 16 October.

🌈🌸 A little colour at the pool! 🌸🌈

Our pool gardener has been very busy this morning, creating some beautiful, bright pots of colour around the pool! Thank you Mitchell Mitre 10 for always having such a vibrant collection.

And of course, we refuelled with rainbow ice cream 🌈🍦

Molly also had a very special moment while visiting the Ekka and met Costa Georgiadis Official🌿🌱

He sure made an impression… Molly’s exact words were:

“Costa is for real life!” 😂💚

Safe to say, she was pretty excited! 🌿
