OPPERATION RESCUE Don Quay

Yesterday evening Servant was made aware via Uncle Dave that Bruce the Ram 🐏 and Sir Don Quay had become stuck down in the bottom bush paddock....

It all started earlier that morning when Tori, Bruce, Don and Myself went for a walk down to the dam in the bush paddock. It was quite wet after all that rain we had, so i stayed to the outside fence and took the long way round... Bruce and Don followed me as they also didn't want to get wet toes and... Tori just ran wild through the water (she's young and stupid). Anyway we all made it around to the otherside to the nice green grass where we spent the whole morning.

Soon it was time to go as we have a daily ritual of staring at the neighbours through the big window while they eat lunch, and Don also likes to watch the Lady in The Pink Dress. Tori refused to go the long way home and called me a Pansy for not wanting to get my feet wet. I didn't like that. She could be so mean. She kept teasing me so took off at a gallop and went through the mud and beat her home!!!!

She was so impressed when we got back. We were chatting for about 20mins and then we realised... we had left Don and Bruce behind..... oh no. A sheep 🐑 and donkey 🫏 , not the brightest sparks.. oh welll

Hours past and we watched them pace up and down the fence unable to find there way back and too scared to go through the water 🤣🤣🤣 peace at last... until the heeeeooorrrs began. It was like the Emmy Lou had parked up in the back paddock and was just tooting non stop.

Servant arrived home and after discussions with Dave a plan was put in place for their retrieval. Unfortunately I was not privy to this otherwise I would have run away faster.

So after some bribery with food I was caught and Servant and I went down to rescue the dumb ass 🫏. He was soooo happy to see me that he ran over heeeoooring. I think it is fair to say that Bruce and Don will not adventure far from home again after the rains...

AWOL....

The alarm has been raised... my whereabouts in question??? Oh and so it should be! Servant has gone AWOL.... Up and left us... nothing, no warning, no see ya later pats, just gone. Apparently she calls it work but rumour has it she's got other horses on the go down south and we're not impressed.

Thankfully Uncle Dave has stepped in and taken over all things 'Hilton on Cobb'. Breakfast is now served much earlier as Dave gets up quite early for a morning coffee and as his kitchen window is right up against our fence we now all line up and stare at him to ensure he knows we are ready. If we stare really hard sometimes he even comes out quicker 😁.

When Don and i are really good, the lady in the Pink Dress from next-door brings us thistles!!!! OMG 😲 this makes my day! I love thistles. Don can see her Pink Dress from soooooo far away and immediately sounds his horn so i know she's about and I come running straight away!!!! She usually brings Don licorice as well but I don't like that.. yuk but he loves ❤️ it.

Lucy and Farasan are wandering about constantly taking about how their eating for two now... but Farasan said that all of last year and turned out she was lying and was just fat so we will believe it when we see it with her....

and finally....
Bruce 🐏.... he's a strange one, that one.... 🤔 The giant walking fluffy tissue that i love to wipe my nose on. He has some excitement the other week when Dr Di brought over her grand daughter and he got to play and pretend he was a pony. Other than that's he's been rather well behaved of late.

Sorry it's been so long, I will be having a Performance Management Meeting with Servant upon her return...

WHAT A DAY!!!

Preparations began early this morning with Servant actually turning up before 7am with breakfast!
After some practice platting and nail 💅 painting last night by Servant (its fair to say she is no hairdresser) i spent the night in the stable keeping warm and clean for the big day.

Don Quay was extremely jealous about being unable to attend, but due to his poor manners and unruly behaviour, he has been banned from all public events. Bruce the Ram was also VERY keen to come along but unfortunately he didn't have an outfit ready so is currently on Temu ordering one in attempt to get a gig at the Echuca Cup...

Once breaky was finished I loaded up and headed out to Gunbower Racing Club. I'd asked Servant to get there early so she could try and perfect her rosettes a little better than the previous night. She spent nearly and hour brushing my never ending malting winter fur and platting my mane and tail. Whilst I certainly appreciated her efforts i can't see her getting any job offers for the Melbourne Show. Next were my nails 💅... i was very impressed by Servant's colour choice 👌. The gold ✨️ was fantastic. I'm not entirely sure what she will do with the remainder of the 1kg of glitter however... Servant was a much better nail technician than hairdresser thankfully. I was very happy.

So finally with all that done, my dress 👗 on, i headed out to my fancy enclosure. It was so exciting. I had so many people come to visit me and give me lots of pats. I even watched 👀 a running race, but then the most exciting then happened...... a really nice man from the Flemington Racecourse and Victoria Racing Club brought the MELBOURNE CUP over!!!! OMG 😲 I could have fallen over. I have dreamed of this day! To see the Cup 🏆 in real life! What a buzz. Ever since watching Gold Trip win the Cup and falling in love with him it's been a dream. If only I was a thoroughbred and a little younger...

The day continued with excitement and more pats from the lovely 😍 children from the Gunbower Primary School. They were so nice and have amazing head scratches. They also had made some great hats 👒 which I loved seeing.

Overall it was a fantastic day out. Congratulations 🎊 to the Gunbower Racing Club Committee for putting on such a good day in some trying conditions and thanks for the invite! Best wishes for the race day!

SPA DAY

Yesterday i spent the day doing some exercise followed by an afternoon at the spa. Servant has began to panic with the big day fast approaching.... As all of us older ladies do over the winter months, i may have let myself go a little. The extra few pounds and wild hair and whiskers are proving a little hard to move and it looks like a trip to the hairdressers will be booked in for Wednesday. My chin hairs are nearly touching my chest at the moment and Servant is not sure whether to plat them, put beads on them or just clip them.... I personally like them the way they are but do agree they are not really 'Fashions on the Fields' appropriate.

HELLLLLLLOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! I'M NOT DEAD!!!!!!!!!!
So i've been on holidays tripping around the world........... ok so i haven't really, Servant has just been lazy (or busy as she like to call it). The furthest I've been is a few laps around the paddock growing my fur.
However... i have some very exciting news! The other day i had a msg on my person horse mobile to see if i was available to head to one of my fav towns Gunbower Racing Club for the Melbourne Cup tour!!!
Of course i jumped at the opportunity. Who can resist another day to get frocked up. Soooo preparations have began. Wednesday i had a pedicure and got some new shoes for the new event. Servant has began the epic challenge of brushing my long hair.... the birds are loving it for their nest building and i will be getting my whiskers trimmed next week.
I cant wait to see as many of you out at Gunbower Racing Club as possible!

What a week it has been. Servant has been away in Melbourne so I have left in charge of keeping her up to date with the goings on in our Community and it has been a pretty bloody special week. One top bloke called Mino (actually Ben) ran from Mildura to Echuca to promote awareness for Mental Health and honour his late brothers with all donations from his epic run 🏃‍♂️ being split between the three Headspace organisations based in Mildura, Swan Hill and Echuca. What an amazing effort!! If i tried to trot over to Echuca I'd be done before I got to Woolies let alone run from Mildura!!! Congratulations for bringing light on such an important issue and well done on your achievement. You are a role model

Morning all

Sorry for the long delays between updates these days. I have limited access to my keyboard at the moment due to Servant being busy working and somewhat distracted. There's a fair bit going on here lately at Hilton on Cobb. Bruce the sheep 🐑 has moved in and thinks he owns the joint. We have all had to put him in his place but he is not a quick learner. He is like a seagull when it comes to food and goes from food bin to food bin. He even sticks his head in while I'm eating. I bit him the other day and just got a mouth full of fluff.... he not one to take a hint
Maybe I should have bitten him on the big dangly things between his back legs....

In other news we have had a new arrival... Mr Basil Brush. He has come up from Cranbourne, and wow, is he a FINE looking specimem. He is only 2 so a bit young for me but again... WOW 👌 He and Tori would make a good match. They spend all day flirting in the paddock and biting each other on the neck.

The other day has the excitement of escaping yet again with Don. Farasan was too much of a goodie two shoes and stayed in the yard despite the gate being open while Don and I ran around the house for a couple of hours and ate grass. We could have been out ALL night except Farasan the kill joy alerted 📢 Servant by starting to cry and she came out and realised and caught us 😢

So that's just a quick update for now. Hope to get out and about soon.

Merry Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 from myself, Don, Servant and all others here at Hilton on Cobb. I hope everyone has had a fantastic, safe day and enjoyed as much food as possible.

Alot has happened at Hilton on Cobb since my last post. We have had joy and sadness and everything else mixed in.
Sadly in early October my arch enemy Horse had complications with her pregnancy and passed away. I know we had our differences and she was a nasty piece of work but no one deserves that.

Two weeks later Helen decided to pop out her bun early by 3 weeks! Servant wasn't even home!
Sous chef Di was in charge and i much to her horror when arriving for the morning breakfast dispersal, she found a foal in the paddock!!!!! Poor Di, she nearly had a heart attack. So our sorrow soon turned to joy and Don and I were back on Night Nurse duties in the Maternity Ward. Andrew-Dave, as he was soon named (after a night Servant and the neighbours got on the sauce) was a quick learner and took to child care well.

We have had another new addition recently named Bruce. He is a little different.... white, small and somewhat fluffier than the rest of here. He also speaks another language or maybe it's some weird northern dialect that none of us know??? Anyway he follows Servant around everywhere. Talk about sucking up. In all honesty, Don and I are getting a little peeved because we feel he's getting special treatment. He's managed to con his way out onto Servant's precious lawns and the other day we even saw him sitting down next-door while they were drinking that liquid comes in cans...

Soooo that a quick round up of things going on. I will try to get my hooves typing a bit more regularly in the new year. I hope you are all well and had a lovely day.

She finally splashed out and did it!

A NEW RUG!!!!! I've been wearing hand-me-downs for the last month since my last rug exploded without warning. My new one is soooo nice and fresh and I think the colours go really well with my complexion. Don is very jealous.

In other news my arch enemy Horse 👹 who is pregnant has a trip to the hospital 🏥 on Monday night. She is overdue and refusing to release the bun. On Monday she had a bad stomach so was rushed to Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital by Servant and Midwife Dave for an examination and ended up spending the night 🌙 . She is home now thanks to Uber Di albeit with her legs still firmly crossed.
The unborn foal was given the 👍 for now and Horse's pains (colic) were just from the big ninja 🥷 trying to squash and kick her in the guts... literally. She is still rather miserable with life and looks like a giant milk tanker on legs. Hopefully she will pop soon, otherwise Helen, her pregnant friend might beat her to it.

Anyway i hope you are all well and with some luck I will be back with some good news soon.
