Good evening to our locals,

It's great to see our community conducting pile burns in a safe manner and during periods of mild weather conditions!

Just a reminder that you are still required to jump on to the NSW RFS website and notify the service of your burn 24 hours prior to ignition.

This prevents the number of 000 calls when people get concerned seeing smoke or fire in the area.

Brigade members will be at the station from 14:00hrs onwards conducting training exercises and would like to invite local residents to drop in and say hello.

We can answer any questions you might have about bushfires and how to prepare, hazard reductions, or joining the brigade as a member!

📝FIRE PERMITS STILL REQUIRED📝

Across the Far South Coast Fire Permits are still required till the end of March.

You can apply at https://nswrfsprod.service-now.com/guardian_csp

Don't forget that it is a two step process requiring notification as well as an approved permit.

Failing to obtain a permit or notifying can result fines.

🔥 Fire Danger Ratings & Alert Levels – What do they mean?

With warm conditions across the South Eastern Area, it’s important for residents and visitors to understand the Fire Danger Rating System and Emergency Alert Levels, and what each means for your safety.

⚠️ Fire Danger Ratings (FDRs)
Fire Danger Ratings describe how dangerous conditions would be if a fire was to start. The higher the rating, the more severe the potential impact. On days of elevated fire danger, a Total Fire Ban may also be declared.

The Fire Danger Rating system includes:

⚪ NO RATING - On days of minimal risk, No Rating will be displayed.
🟢MODERATE - Plan and prepare.
🟡 HIGH - Be ready to act.
🟠 EXTREME - Take action now to protect your life and property.
🔴 CATASTROPHIC - For your survival, leave bush fire risk areas.

🚨 Alert Levels
Alert Levels are used during a bush fire to describe the level of threat. Fires can start and spread quickly, sometimes with little or no warning, so it’s vital to take all alerts seriously.

🟨 Advice – A fire has started. There is no immediate danger. Stay up to date in case the situation changes.
🟧 Watch and Act – There is a heightened level of threat. Conditions are changing and you need to start taking action now to protect you and your family.
🟥 Emergency Warning – The highest alert level. You may be in danger and need to take action immediately. Any delay now puts your life at risk.
