MOGGILL MEMORIES MONDAY | 160 YEARS OF MOGGILL STATE SCHOOL

For 160 years, Moggill State School has been more than just a school. It has been a place where generations of families have learned, grown and created lifelong memories.

This week, as part of our 160 Years celebrations, we are celebrating the parents and grandparents in our community who once sat in the very same classrooms, played on the same oval and walked the same pathways as today's students.

From former students to proud parents and grandparents, their connection to Moggill State School spans generations. These families are a special part of our school's history and a wonderful reminder of the strong community spirit that continues to thrive today.

Were you, your parents or your grandparents students at Moggill State School? We'd love to hear your stories and memories in the comments below.

POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR FOCUS:

This week, our focus is Be Respectful – We Are a Great Audience.

Being a great audience means listening carefully, showing respect to speakers and performers, and encouraging others through positive attention and applause. Whether we're in the classroom, at assembly, or attending one of our upcoming Arts and Instrumental Evenings, being a respectful audience helps everyone feel valued and confident.

We encourage all students to demonstrate excellent audience manners by:
- Listening attentively
- Keeping conversations for later
- Following instructions
- Showing appreciation for others' efforts

Let's continue to make our school a place where everyone feels respected, supported, and proud to share their talents!

YEAR 6 PEEC EXCURSIONS

Our year 6 classes have attended PEEC over the past two weeks. They have travelled to Karawatha Forest, to be part of the PEEC Story-thread excursion called – WANDER THE WAY OF THE WATER W.W.W. Story-thread is a “pedagogy of place” that uses story, drama, play, attentiveness in nature and deep reflection to connect students to themselves, others and natural places.

To prepare for the excursion, students have taken on the real-life role of Environmental Advocates who take action for their place by communicating their knowledge, passion and solutions to problems to help others understand, connect to and care for natural places. The W.W.W. story-thread is centred around the real-life story of Bernice Volz, a passionate environmentalist who was instrumental in saving Karawatha Forest from development, and leads students to consider the connections between people and natural places that lead to environmental action.
