Clinical Nurse Bonnie’s journey as a Child and Family Health nurse has taken her from New Zealand, to remote WA, and now to us in the Gold Coast.
“What I love most about my role is the privilege of visiting families in their homes,” Bonnie said.
“It’s such a unique opportunity to support them in an environment where they feel comfortable, and you often get to know many family members along the way. Building those connections is incredibly rewarding.
Bonnie plays a key role in supporting families during the First 2000 Days – triaging referrals in the Intake team and allocating families to the right nurse, helping develop new workflows and procedures, and attending home visits – she's a busy woman!
Fun fact: Bonnie originally worked in emergency, focusing on acute medical needs!
However, she was always drawn to supporting families with complex social needs, which inspired her to specialise in Primary Health Care Specialty Nursing.
“It’s a privilege to walk alongside families, helping to build a strong foundation for their child’s future while empowering parents along the way,” she said.
These new positions are funded through the Queensland Government’s PQKF capacity uplift, strengthening services that support children and families in the first 2000 days.
