🏉👕 Today our teams are proudly supporting Jersey Day by wearing our favourite sporting jerseys and colours.

Jersey Day is an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of organ and tissue donation, while honouring the generosity of donors, recipients and their families. Every donor has the potential to change and save lives, making a lasting difference for people in our community.

We're proud to join the conversation, celebrate the spirit of giving, and show our support for this important cause. 💙❤️

Today, our staff are proudly wearing purple to celebrate Wear It Purple Day to show our support for LGBTQIA+ young people, colleagues, patients and community members. This year's theme, Colours of Courage, recognises the many ways people create positive change through authenticity, inclusion, allyship and respect.

At Mona Vale Hospital, we know that even small acts of kindness, understanding and advocacy - like wearing purple and taking part in the Northern Sydney Local Health District Wear it Purple art project, lovingly completed by our Urgent Care team - can be powerful ways to create a safer, more welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.

Thank you to all our staff who joined in today and demonstrated that courage comes in many forms, from speaking up and standing beside others to fostering a workplace where everyone feels seen, valued and respected. 💜💜💜

💙 MONA VALE HOSPITAL AUXILIARY DELIVERS $77,000 WISHLIST

More than $77,000 worth of equipment, furniture and resources has been delivered to Mona Vale Hospital thanks to the incredible support of the Mona Vale Hospital Auxiliary.

The auxiliary has been part of the hospital since it opened in 1964, raising funds in the local community to support patients, staff and services.

This year’s wishlist has included new furniture for rehabilitation units, an amputee wheelchair and a MOTOmed movement therapy device for the physiotherapy gym.

“The equipment and resources provided through the wishlist program make a real difference to our patients, their families and our staff,” Mona Vale Hospital General Manager Renae McCarthy said.

The auxiliary is now raising approximately $30,000 for an ultrasound machine for the hospital’s Spasticity Clinic.

A volunteer musician is bringing moments of calm and connection to patients at Mona Vale Hospital’s Palliative Care and Geriatric Evaluation and Management unit.

Brent began visiting the unit in 2024 after his close friend Stuart, affectionately known as “Frog”, was admitted while living with oesophageal cancer. With Stuart’s encouragement, Brent brought in his 12-string guitar to play for him, other patients and staff.

Following Stuart’s passing, Brent chose to continue visiting the unit in his honour. He now returns monthly, sharing a repertoire of more than 170 songs, and performs at weddings and memorial services held within the unit.

In an interview [email protected], Clinical Support Officer Kate Vaughan, said Brent’s presence has made a meaningful difference to patients and staff.

"It’s wonderful to hear Brent play. His music is soothing, and it brings comfort to everyone who hears it. We’re so grateful that he shares his gift with us".

This week, Mona Vale Hospital staff came together to celebrate NAIDOC Week through meaningful experiences that honoured Aboriginal culture, connection, and storytelling.

🎨 Staff participated in an Aboriginal Art on Canvas Experience guided by Uncle Gary Simon (Jagamurra). Through shared learning and creativity, participants explored the beauty, symbolism, and rich traditions of Aboriginal art. The collaborative artwork created during the session will be proudly displayed at Mona Vale Hospital for staff, patients, and visitors to enjoy.

🔥 The celebrations also included a Smoking Ceremony and Yidaki showcase, facilitated by Dhinawan Yarn and Entertainment. These experiences provided an opportunity for reflection, connection, and a deeper appreciation of Aboriginal cultural practices and knowledge.

We thank Uncle Gary Simon (Jagamurra), and Dhinawan Yarn, and all staff who participated in making these celebrations so meaningful. Together, we continue to learn from one another, strengthen relationships, and foster a workplace grounded in respect, inclusion, and reconciliation.

Happy NAIDOC Week!
