We are very proud to present 'Piyalbajarri' (‘Yarns’), TONIGHT in Moora!

It shares the remarkable life and songs of Peter Salmon, a 92-year-old Thiinma Elder, stockman and songwriter. Performed in Thiinma and English with Peter’s long-time collaborator, musician and linguist Rosie Sitorus, the show blends humour, resilience and music, inviting audiences to take a peek into the living history of pre-colonial Australia.

This is a once in a lifetime kind of event to attend, and you can do so by grabbing a ticket at the link below and heading over to our friends at Gardiner Street Arts Collective at 6pm.

This month, the Shire of Moora is turning its attention to heritage; but not the kind you read in a textbook. The kind passed down through the stories of our elders, family and friends.

📅 September 5th: We welcome Peter Salmon to Moora, a 93-year-old Thiinma Elder and the last living speaker of his language. Alongside Rosie Sitorus, Peter brings his show Piyalbajarri to town — a story shaped by his Thiinma heritage and a life spent working pastoral stations across the Pilbara and Kimberley. This is truth telling in its purest form: a man finally getting to tell his own story, on his own terms.

📅 September 19th: The 115th Moora Show rolls in! Believe it or not, this tradition dates back to 1906, when a special train from Perth brought visitors out as a marked event in the calendar. Through wars, droughts and the Depression, our community has kept showing up to celebrate the land we work and love.

Two very different events. One shared idea: heritage stays alive because people keep showing up for it and keep sharing their stories, so they're never lost.

We hope you'll join us for both 💛
