Tonight we went to Texas Roadhouse in Turkey Creek for dinner. When we sat down to eat this was on our table with an expo marker. Y’all, my heart exploded. I have never seen anything like this at any restaurant I have eaten at. Hats off to Texas Roadhouse because she was one of the best servers we have ever had. I loved that it allowed me to teach my kids about a deaf person and how they communicate. They were so intrigued. I also realized that I know very little signs and most of the ones I know are potty, juice, all done, drink and more. I clearly work in a PreK room with potty trainers…..and I wouldn’t trade a single moment ❤️❤️❤️

This is an article from 2018 published in 'The Conversation', but still very relevant. It's titled 'We can all help to improve communication for people with disabilities'.

What are some of the things that people have done to communicate with you in ways which were authentic and meaningful?

There’s a lot we can do to make society more accessible for people with communication disability.

Wonderful to see a light shone on the need for more advocacy in Australia, particularly for those navigating the complexities of the NDIS.
