Many Firefighters are committed to effecting change through pay deductions to support the Kids Burns Unit at The Children's Hospital at Westmead.

A further extension of this is the Fire and Rescue NSW 400in4 Charity Ride where firefighters cycle 400km's over 4 days and visit schools and communities along the way to deliver key fire safety learnings designed to keep children safe.

Now in its 19th year, the 400in4 Charity Ride is hoping to surpass the $1,000,000 mark for total funds donated to the Burns Unit.
COVID has put a dampener on this years event and has moved to a virtual event.

We ask for your support by donating to our riders and their efforts to provide funds to the Burns Unit which in turn delivers better patient outcomes through research into Burns Treatment, Minimisation of Scarring and Mental Health to aid and assist in the recovery process.

Liverpool Fire Station had both participants and Instructors on the Urban Search and Rescue Technician Course that has just concluded.

The firefighters will not only add to the our International Capability with our United Nations Accredited Heavy USAR team AUS-2, but more importantly for the residents of Liverpool and the surrounding areas, they will be bringing this skill set back to their local fire station responding to incidents on a daily basis.

With Liverpool fire fighters joining the Urban Search and Rescue course both as instructors and participants, we are training to be .

One of the activities and training sessions during week 1 of the 2020 FRNSW USAR Rescue Technician course included a simple teamwork exercise. Participants first had to use the available tools to level the board and then move a ball around the maze using the tools as dynamic stabilisation. This maze table can be used to not only learn team dynamics but also test operators skills and knowledge of a range of equipment. Naturally the instructors introduced other rules to challenge the participants in the exercise. Thanks to Paul Courtney and UKISAR for sharing this idea, a benefit of the world wide collaborative capability environment we work in.

A bit of afternoon drill involving the PetroGen.
A piece of equipment that uses a fuel and oxygen mixture to produce an incredibly hot, concentrated flame designed to cut through steel and other metals, such as railway track.
With so many different pieces of gear on our trucks, it’s important to keep our skills up for when they are needed at an incident.

They came from across the sea to help our country in its time of need. Their bravery and sacrifice embodies the special bond between our two nations in the time of conflict or disaster.
Here, they will be honoured and remembered.
We extend our prayers to the families and friends of these extraordinary men.

Apologies for the poor lighting but these pictures highlight the unique challenges faced during a night time rescue operation.
On 10/01/2020 at approximately 2200hrs,
008 Liverpool Stations Technical Rescue Vehicle, along with Fire and Rescue NSW Station 033 Engadine and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 054 Cronulla were called to a rescue incident involving a person that had become lost in dense bush land. Upon locating the person at the base of a steep cliff edge, rescue rope lines were established to access and lift the patient to safety where they were assessed and treated by waiting paramedics.

We really do have an amazing community in Liverpool.
Here we have the beautiful people from Chipping Norton Manoosh, who took it upon themselves to collect food and supplies for the weary fire fighters and victims of the unprecedented fires, not just locally but across the state. And the incredible people who took the time to visit them and donate what they could.
Words cannot describe how blown away we are by the generosity of you all.
So if you get a chance, go say Hi to the wonderful guys and girls at Manoosh. Word has it they make pretty amazing food too.(We know from experience....)
