Some of our beautiful Red Kangaroos that have come through our sanctuary from the tiniest of pinkies (no fur, eyes closed, ears still fixed to their heads and weighing as little as 600g) to aware and frightened pouch joeys, then more confident and comfortable with their human mum, then out of pouch or at foot joeys through to young adults and finally to the magnificent fully mature big male Kangaroo (weighing 90kg plus) released back to the wild where they belong

This is Saffron, a female Red Kangaroo. She came to us after suffering neglect from her 'carers' and was very unwell. She's come a long way and is a beautiful healthy adult now.
She's in our soft release/nursery area near our house and not yet in the main sanctuary.
The yellow submarine behind her is an old abandoned tractor engine. Every time I walked past it, I thought it looked like a beached submarine. So when my sister Sarah was here last December we painted it yellow and added some poly pipe for a periscope and voila!!

Our latest admission yesterday.
Little "Miracle" is a 700g Western Grey male joey. His mum was hit by a car between Southern Cross and Yellowdine. Thanks to Natalie Davis who spotted the injured Kangaroo at the side of the road and called it in. Natalie has also named him.
Huge thanks to Jamie Scott who went to the site, humanely euthanased the injured Kangaroo and rescued the joey. Thanks also to Jamie and Michelle Day who donated $100 towards little Miracle's care xx

Thanks to a generous grant from Lotterywest, we have just completed a 15km perimeter fence of our Parnana Pikurtu Wildlife Sanctuary in Moorine Rock. With funds of $67,928.00 from them in addition to a DPIRD Animal Welfare grant of $44,580.00, we were able to purchase all the materials needed to erect a 1.8m high perimeter fence, ensuring protection of all the native flora and fauna within the 2200 acre sanctuary area. This includes threatened species such as Malleefowl plus all the macropods at various stages of rehabilitation. It also affords protection to all the existing bush plus the 60,000 native seedlings we have planted to increase wildlife habitat.
Heartfelt thanks to Lotterywest and DPIRD for believing in and funding our project as without that support the plans could not have come to fruition. Finally, huge thanks go to Ron Goodhill's superhuman and tireless efforts to get the job done.
