🚒❤️ 12 DAYS TO GO — WE’RE STEPPING UP FOR A REASON ❤️🚒

In just 12 days, on Saturday, September 12th, three of our Mooroopna CFA members — Blade, Bridgette and Larissa — will be heading to Melbourne to take on the Melbourne Firefighter Stairclimb.

They’ll join around 1,000 emergency service personnel from across Australia to climb 28 flights of stairs, wearing 25kg of firefighting gear, either breathing on air or with their breathing apparatus donned.

But for Blade, Bridgette and Larissa, this isn't simply about the challenge.

It’s about who they’re climbing for.

Every step they take will be helping raise vital funds for three organisations doing incredible work in the community:

❤️ Lifeline — supporting people experiencing emotional distress and helping prevent su***de.

🎗️ Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation — supporting vital cancer research, treatment and care.

🚒 000 Foundation — supporting the emergency services community and the people who dedicate their lives to helping others.

Cancer. Depression. Su***de.

These are battles that affect families, friends, colleagues and communities every single day. They don't discriminate, and chances are most of us know someone whose life has been touched by one of them.

That’s why Blade, Bridgette and Larissa are willing to put themselves through the pain, heat, weight and exhaustion of 28 floors.

Because sometimes you have to take one more step, even when everything in you is telling you to stop.

They'll be carrying 25kg of gear on their backs, but they'll also be carrying the stories, struggles and memories of the people they are climbing for.

Every flight of stairs is a reminder that there are people out there fighting battles we can't always see.

And while they may be the ones climbing, they don't have to do it alone.

You can help them reach the top by donating, sharing their fundraising pages, or simply sending them a message of encouragement for the big day.

28 floors. 25kg of gear. 1,000 emergency service personnel. 3 incredible causes.

But most importantly…

3 of our own stepping up for something bigger than themselves. ❤️

Let's get behind Blade, Bridgette and Larissa and help them climb every step knowing their Mooroopna CFA family and community are behind them.

🔥 Step Up to Fight Cancer, Depression and Su***de. 🔥

🔥 Live fire training 🔥
Over the past week, and over the coming weeks, you may have noticed flashing lights and real fire activity at the running track. Rest assured, this is all part of planned training.
Mooroopna CFA, alongside our neighbouring brigades, has been undertaking live fire training using the Country Fire Authority's High Pressure Vessel Training Prop.
These specialised training props allow firefighters to safely simulate a range of realistic fire scenarios using live fire, providing invaluable hands-on experience in a controlled environment. This type of training strengthens our operational skills, builds confidence, enhances teamwork, and improves our ability to respond safely and effectively when the community needs us most.
Training opportunities like these are only possible thanks to the dedication of our volunteer firefighters, the support of our neighbouring brigades, and the instructors who deliver this specialised training. We sincerely thank everyone involved for helping ensure our crews remain prepared for the challenges of emergency response.

AusAlert is Australia’s new national warning system.

It does not replace VicEmergency and will only be used in certain situations.

AusAlert is being tested at 2 pm on Monday 27 July.

What to expect: You’ll get an alert on your mobile device. It will vibrate and make a loud, siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds - even if your phone is on ‘silent’ or ‘do not disturb’.

Safety: If this test could cause you or a loved one to feel unsafe, please turn off your mobile devices or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time. Leave them off for at least one hour.

As this is just a test, you don’t need to do anything. However, in an actual disaster you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.

To hear what an AusAlert sounds like and to learn more, visit ausalert.gov.au.

🚒 2025–26 Financial Year Wrap-Up 🚒

As we close another financial year, we'd like to acknowledge the dedication, commitment and service of our incredible volunteers, and thank our community for its continued support.

Over the past 12 months, our brigade responded to 451 incidents, including fires, motor vehicle accidents, hazardous conditions, false alarms and support requests alongside our partnering agencies. Every response reflects the professionalism and teamwork of our members, who are ready to answer the call whenever it's needed.

Emergency response is only one part of what we do. Our members train on Monday nights to maintain and strengthen the skills required to respond safely and effectively. Behind the scenes, countless volunteer hours are also spent maintaining appliances and equipment, completing administration, and ensuring our brigade remains prepared for whatever comes next.

Throughout the year, we were proud to be part of a number of community events, providing fire safety education, engaging with local residents, and strengthening the connection between our brigade and the community we proudly serve.

To our volunteers, thank you for your unwavering commitment. To your families, employers and loved ones, thank you for the sacrifices you make to support our members. And to our community, thank you for your ongoing encouragement and trust.

As we begin a new financial year, we remain committed to protecting lives and property through service, teamwork and community resilience.

From all of us at Mooroopna fire brigade, thank you for your continued support. We look forward to serving our community in the year ahead.

IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDER!!
Did you know? - 1 June is the the first day of winter — and Smoke Alarm Action Day.

Use it as your reminder to test your smoke alarms and make sure they’re working properly.

It only takes a minute, and it could save your life. A working smoke alarm can halve the risk of death in a house fire and is one of the simplest ways to protect your home and family.
