EMERGENCY CALL-OUT:

Another very busy day for your volunteers.

This afternoon, our members along with several others from NSW RFS Pallamallawa and Ashley Brigades attended a truck trailer fire on Bulluss Drive in Moree.

After battling the blaze for over a hour, we got diverted to a grass fire in Birawee Place, Moree. After our members extinguished that fire, another one appeared near Mehi Crescent, Moree which was another grass fire.

Despite the workload, we all remained in good spirits and carried a great attitude.

Just a few days ago, Moree Regional Airport had a rare and exciting visitor—Fire Scan 201, one of the NSW Rural Fire Service’s specialized aerial reconnaissance jets. This impressive aircraft is based on the Cessna 560 Citation V, a high-performance light jet renowned for its speed, efficiency, and versatility.

With a top speed of 795 km/h and an impressive range of 3,335 kilometers, Fire Scan 201 is a vital asset in the RFS fleet, typically deployed for aerial reconnaissance, mapping fire activity from above, and transporting personnel swiftly to where they are needed most. Its advanced capabilities allow it to gather critical intelligence on bushfires, assisting ground crews with strategic decision-making in real time.

A rare sight in our skies, its presence at Moree was certainly a moment worth noting!
