Plantations now account for over 88% of wood supply.

Native forest logging is on the decline. We can't leave this transition up to markets & corporations.

We need a managed transition to secure outcomes for workers, communities & the environment.

Australia has a massive land carbon opportunity. We can can protect forests, restore landscapes, expand our plantation base and create thousands of regional jobs.

We need a national strategy to guide this work.

Major wins for electrification & energy performance in last nights budget.

Gas will never be cheap again, so replacing old gas appliances with efficient electric heat pumps is a key way to reduce energy bill pressures!

Thank you Chris Bowen MP Jenny McAllister & Jim Chalmers MP

A big win in the budget tonight!

$121 million to establish a National EPA.

LEAN campaigned for, and won a commitment to an EPA at the 2018 Labor National Conference. Now in government it is being delivered.

Excellent news today with the announcement of a National net-zero Authority!

LEAN has for a long time supported our union friends in their advocacy for a National Transition Authority to ensure nobody is left behind.

This authority will help make sure all communities can embrace the economic and job opportunities that come from global climate action.

πŸ₯³πŸ‘πŸΎπŸŽ‰ 100 BRANCHES!!! πŸ₯³πŸ‘πŸΎπŸŽ‰

100 Branches across Australia have already passed our 'Climate, Clearing and Cows' motion and lots more are ordering materials or booking in a presentation to support our campaign.

All the branches listed below have passed our motion and have written to federal government ministers, calling on them to include the land sector as part of the climate solution.... to move to plantations, end broad scale land clearing, create a strategy to retain vegetation and use land more efficiently and effectively.

Has your branch passed the motion? Get in touch now and we will organise a presenter, digital pack and flyers for your next meeting.

Australian native forestry is dominated by low-value products like woodchips.

Yep - we chip up our most precious forests to be shipped off at low value overseas to make products like toilet paper.

In 2023, our forests are worth more than this.

29/04/2023

The future of the timber industry is sustainable plantations.

Already 88% of timber supply is from plantations.

We can support these workers, grow the industry and end native forest logging at the same time.

27/04/2023

A reduction in native forest logging in Tasmania has seen it become one of the first jurisdictions in the world to become net carbon negative!

It shows that moving to 100% plantation timber in all states will significantly bolster Australia's emissions reduction efforts.

It's Earth Day. Let's invest in our environment like we do in health, education, industry...
