Red means stop🤚👮🚓

At 11:30pm on 07/06/2026, Rosebud Police observed a white Toyota Corolla fail to stop at a red light at the intersection of Point Nepean Road and Hygeia Street, Rye.

Police intercepted the vehicle, which was occupied by the driver and three passengers. The driver returned a positive roadside breath test for alcohol and was subsequently conveyed to Rosebud Police Station for further testing.

The result? An evidentiary breath test reading of 0.219 — more than four times the legal limit.

The driver ignored the red light. Unfortunately for them, the consequences weren't so easy to drive past.

• Immediate 12-month driving ban
• 30-day vehicle impoundment — costing more than $1,200
• A pending summons to appear at the Magistrates' Court

The only thing higher than the driver's BAC was the cost of the mistake. Drink driving? Don't.

💊POTENTIAL SIGNS YOUR NEIGHBOUR IS A DRUG DEALER 💊

👋 Having too many visitors: You can note how many new faces keeping going to the property and making quick visits.

💸Living a good life despite not having a job: If you know that your neighbour does not have a job, but they keep on buying expensive items, it could be a sign of them getting money from illegal sources.

🏘 Having a house that looks suspicious: This can include; black-out window covers on all the time, high fences blocking the view, and smells coming from the house.

💉 Leaving drug-related items around the property: If you see syringes and small plastic bags near your neighbour’s house, consider it a red flag. You should also be worried if you notice chemical containers in your neighbour’s trash.

Operation REGAL

Yesterday, Mornington Peninsula uniform members, together with Somerville Highway Patrol, Sheriff’s officers, and the Vehicle Safety Standards unit, united in Hastings for a shared cause.

Victoria Police carried out over 1000 PBTs, and only one driver was found over the legal alcohol limit—a powerful reminder of the importance of our collective commitment to safety.

The Sheriff’s team executed several arrest warrants, ensuring those who put our communities at risk are held accountable.

Numerous vehicle defect notices were issued by the Vehicle Safety Standards Unit, highlighting the ongoing dedication to keeping our vehicles—and everyone in them—safe.

Every agency played a vital part in protecting our roads, working side by side for the wellbeing of all. Let’s look out for one another and return home safely to our loved ones.

🚙 Kings Birthday Long Weekend - Road Policing Operation REGAL 🚙

The long weekend is here! With wet weather forecast and increased traffic on our roads, police across the state will be ensuring safety remains a key focus for all road users. A high-visibility road policing operation will be conducted across the weekend called Operation REGAL.

Police will have a strong focus on:

🚔 Impaired Driving – If you drink or take drugs, don’t drive. Plan a safe way home.
🚔 Speeding – Slow down. Every km/h over the limit increases your risk.
🚔 Fatigue – If you’re tired, stop and rest. Microsleep can kill.
🚔 Seatbelts – Buckle up, every seat, every trip. No excuses.
🚔 Distraction – Put the phone away. It can wait.
🚶Pedestrians - Among our most vulnerable road users. Stop and look both ways when crossing the road.

We’re not just looking for offenders; we’re working to prevent tragedies before they happen. Drive safe. Stay alert. Look out for each other.

04/06/2026

🚔🚨Operation Regal is back over the King’s Birthday long weekend, running from 12:01am Friday 5 June to 11:59pm Monday 8 June 2026.

Police will be highly visible and enforcing road safety across the Mornington Peninsula to reduce road trauma and positively influence road user behaviour.

Police will be targeting speeding, impaired drivers, distraction, fatigue, seatbelts and unauthorised driving – all major contributors to road trauma.

Please drive safely and enjoy the long weekend 👑👮‍♂️👮

You may have seen an unfamiliar sight on our beautiful Peninsula lately, with some solo Highway Patrol units getting about, taking in the lovely beach views.

With these types of patrols though, comes some unwelcome surprises for some motorists. So far, just since Tuesday, our solo units have detected 27 drivers using mobile phones while driving! Disappointing to say the least, especially so with the poor weather conditions, some people's spirits were a little dampened after they received their $611 fine and 4 demerit points.
