Limited places remain for interpreting and translating scholarships 🎓

Through the Victorian Government’s partnership with RMIT University, bilingual Victorians can access support to study interpreting and translating across a range of languages. This helps more people remain connected and have access to the support services they need.

Scholarships are available for the Introduction to Interpreting Skill Set and Introduction to Translating and Interpreting Skill Set courses.

Thank you to Member for Eastern Victoria Tom McIntosh MP and Aileen Formaran from Alay Kapwa for the recent visit!

We are thrilled to announce that Gippsland Multicultural Services has been awarded $300,000 from the Victorian Government’s Community Support Fund via the Regional Settlement Support Fund (RSSF).

This short-term funding will expand our impact across the region. It directly supports new arrivals in our migrant community, sector development, community engagement, and social cohesion initiatives through both direct service delivery and partnership initiatives.

As our CEO Carmel Riley shared, this support allows us to respond effectively to local needs, fill critical service gaps, and work with partners to better reach and support our community.

Beyond individual support, this initiative is about strengthening the whole of our community by fostering cultural humility and inclusive environments for all.

Importantly, this funding also allows us to better explore social enterprise concepts to bridge the gap between multicultural community and the emerging needs of a region navigating energy transition.

A huge thank you to the Victorian Government for investing in a stronger, more connected, and inclusive Gippsland!

The Community Amenity Local Law guides Council’s compliance and enforcement activities for a wide range of topics, including property amenity, keeping of animals, open air burning, waste and recycling, some business activities and use of Council land and roads.

We have developed a draft Community Amenity Local Law and Council has resolved to release this for consultation.

We would like your feedback on the draft Community Amenity Local Law. Your feedback will help us consider emerging issues and ensure the local law is relevant.
