📣 Have your say today

Residents are urged to have their say on proposed changes by the NSW Government that could significantly alter how development applications are assessed and how communities are informed and consulted.

The NSW Government is currently seeking feedback on a proposed Statewide Community Participation Plan, which may affect notification requirements, exhibition periods and the role communities play in the planning process.

Council is encouraging all residents to review the proposed changes and make a submission. Community feedback plays a vital role in ensuring that planning decisions reflect local needs and values.

Provide your feedback by 5pm Wednesday 3 June at https://www.nsw.gov.au/have-your-say/statewide-community-participation-plan

A Port Jackson fig tree has been planted along Balmoral's iconic promenade, between two previously vandalised trees. The new addition replaces a large banner, displayed for the past six months, designed to educate the community, encourage reporting of incidents, and deter further vandalism.

Mayor Ann Marie Kimber thanks the community for contributing to the Mosman Long-term Strategic Masterplan consultation, noting the feedback is helping shape a detailed plan for further consultation. She says Council is working with the State Government to propose an alternative to the imposed LMR after strong community objections, aiming for a plan that reflects Mosman’s unique character.

Mayor Ann Marie Kimber attended a special celebration recognising the valuable contributions of local volunteers, as part of National Volunteer Week, with Council acknowledging the vital role volunteers play in the community. During the event, she thanked attendees for their dedication and also took time to speak with one volunteer to hear her personal story and learn more about her experience.

We have extended community consultation to 24 May after receiving strong feedback on two proposed Masterplan options for Mosman, both involving increased building heights along the Spit/Military Road corridor. These proposals respond to the State Government’s LMR policy, which is driving higher-density developments; however, unprecedented numbers of objections and community feedback indicate the LMR is not a supportable option for Mosman. As a result, we are exploring alternative approaches that still deliver around 4,700 homes, and are encouraging the community to provide input to help shape a final Masterplan that balances housing needs with local character, heritage, and amenity.
