Serving Mosman

Serving Mosman We adhere to the guiding principles of Service, Consultation, Inclusion, and Accountability. Consequently, in 2011, Serving Mosman was born.

Established in 2011, Serving Mosman is an independent, non-aligned party committed to advancing the best interests of the Mosman community through the election of representatives to Mosman Council. Our Story

In the 2008 Mosman local government election, the community voted for significant changes: the abolition of the ward system, the popular election of the Mayor, and the reduction of Councillor

s from nine to seven. This led community members to approach Peter Abelson, a highly respected former Mayor and Councillor, to seek re-election. Peter Abelson’s leadership as Mosman's first popularly elected Mayor brought immediate positive changes, making the council more customer-focused and service-oriented. During his term, Serving Mosman led the successful fight to keep Mosman independent and prevent forced amalgamation, a campaign supported by the community and funded by the council. In 2017, Carolyn Corrigan, backed by Peter Abelson, was elected as Mosman's first popularly elected female Mayor. Re-elected in 2021, she served alongside Serving Mosman’s Michael Randall, Pip Friedrich, and Sarah Hughes. Deputy Mayor Pip Friedrich and Clr Michael Randall are seeking re-election for the new Council term in 2024, with Carolyn endorsing Ann Marie Kimber as Serving Mosman’s 2024 Mayoral candidate. Serving Mosman has a tradition of promoting strong community advocates, encouraging new voices and civic representation. Our 2024 team blends experience and fresh perspectives, committed to our foundational principles of service, accountability, consultation, and courtesy. Guiding Principles & Key Policies

Council’s Independence
We remain dedicated to ensuring Council remains truly democratic, transparent, and free from ‘big party’ politics. The Environment
We will continue our stewardship, working with the community to safeguard future generations from environmental degradation and support Council’s 2040 net zero goal. Planning
We advocate for solutions that respect Mosman’s character, heritage, and amenity, opposing the State Government’s ‘one size fits all’ approach. Traffic & Transport
We prioritize improved traffic and transport solutions, advocating for public and active transport to reduce congestion and enhance safety. Respectful & Safe Working Environments
We are committed to a safe, healthy, and respectful work environment. We will advocate for a drug and alcohol policy in Council’s Code of Meeting Practice. Inclusion
We celebrate diversity and foster a community where everyone feels valued. We support initiatives promoting health, wellbeing, and representation for all community members. Digital Innovation
We embrace digital technologies to enhance council services and community engagement while ensuring data privacy. Arts, Culture & Small Business
We actively support our small businesses and cultural heritage through community events, festivals, and public arts projects. Companion Animals & Pets
We advocate for responsible pet management and support NSW Government initiatives for companion animals and pet travel. Ann Marie Kimber, Carolyn Corrigan & the Serving Mosman Team.
--------------------------------------------------------
We acknowledge the Borogegal and Cammeraigal people as the traditional custodians of this land. We pay our respects to Elders of the past and present and to those of the future and acknowledge their spiritual connection to Country.

🌿 Stop the Developers’ Lobby Taking Control of Our Planning System

The developers’ lobby already has too much influence - and now, a Bill before Parliament next week could hand them even more power.

It would sideline communities, weaken transparency, and make it harder for local voices to shape how our neighbourhoods evolve. Planning decisions would be made for profit, not for people.

🌿 What’s Left to Protect
The State Government has already taken much of planning out of local hands. If this Bill passes, the developers’ lobby will have even greater control over what’s built, where, and how — with little regard for local character, sustainability, or infrastructure.

💬 Why It Matters
Planning affects how we live - the density of our streets, the parks we share, and the traffic we sit in. Communities deserve a say in their future, not just developers and lobbyists with deep pockets.

We are now officially sworn in!

It was an honour to be sworn in last night at a Council Extraordinary Meeting - Ann Marie as Mayor, Carolyn and Pip as Councillors and myself as Deputy Mayor.

We are joined on Council by Roy Bendall and Simon Menzies who were reelected as Councillors, and a fresh face, Colleen Godsell.

In addition the nomination of Councillors to various Committees and organisations took place.

Congratulations to all, and a big thank you to everyone what was able to join us last night. It was wonderful to share the evening with so many!
