Council is always looking for ways to improve services and save money. ๐Ÿ’ฐ

We regularly review all Council departments and service areas.

This helps us ensure we use money and resources wisely while providing the best services possible. Recently, we took a close look at our pools and outside school hours care service and found savings of around $450,000 per year.

Our efforts also include improving contracts, cutting down energy costs and managing Council buildings and land more effectively through our new Property Policy.

โ™ป๏ธ MOBILE COMMUNITY RECYCLING CENTRE :: Coming to a village or town near you in June!

Bring your fire extinguishers, batteries, motor oils, fluorescent globes, cardboard, gas bottles, paint, polystyrene, mobile phones, smoke detectors and soft plastics for recycling.

3 JUNE :: Robertson + Burrawang
10 JUNE :: Wingello + Bundanoon
17 JUNE:: Colo Vale + Yerrinbool
24 JUNE :: Exeter + Mittagong

Head here๐Ÿ‘‰https://www.wsc.nsw.gov.au/Residents/Waste-and-Recycling/Mobile-Community-Recycling-Centre for exact times and locations and to check out the rest of the schedule for the financial year.

And a reminder it's limited to 20L or 20kg per customer per drop off, otherwise we get people emptying out their entire shed and filling up the truck which isn't fair on other residents wanting to use the service.

We were proud to collaborate with Highlands Community Centres with support from Creative Space Community Outreach, Highlands Youth Centre, Vinnies Australia + National Indigenous Australians Agency to host a wonderful Wingecarribee Reconciliation Day event on Thursday.

Starting at the Wingecarribee Aboriginal Community Centre in Mittagong, followed by a stop at Oxleys Hill Lookout before heading to Casburn Park in Wingello for cultural activities and lunch, it was part of our National Reconciliation Week activities.

A fantastic day out - thanks to all the organisations who contributed and everyone who came along!

And things are already happening!

๐Ÿ“• The new Wingecarribee Libraries website went live yesterday. Check it out here๐Ÿ‘‰https://library.wsc.nsw.gov.au/

What w**d is this? Have you seen a suspected w**d or a w**d you'd like identified?

Report it via our website ๐Ÿ‘‰https://www.wsc.nsw.gov.au/Environment/Weeds-Management-and-Biosecurity/Weed-Identification-and-Control-Information

Make sure you include:

๐Ÿ“ Location
๐Ÿ“ Description
๐Ÿ“ธ Clear photos โ€” flowers and seed heads are especially helpful

And our Biosecurity Team will follow up and investigate your report.

Your reports help detect w**ds early like this invasive species pictured - Spanish Heath (Erica lusitanica) - and stop the spread across our region.

You can drop batteries at the Resource Recovery Centre, the Civic Centre in Moss Vale (just inside the front door to the right), the Visitor Information Centre in Mittagong (around the back and available all hours) and of course our Mobile Community Recycling Centre which is on its way to a village or town near you - check out the schedule here๐Ÿ‘‰ https://www.wsc.nsw.gov.au/Residents/Waste-and-Recycling/Mobile-Community-Recycling-Centre

Never bin batteries ๐Ÿšซ

When batteries are crushed in waste, they can spark a fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ

The best thing you can do is take your batteries to a nearby safe battery drop-off point.

These include supermarkets, hardware stores, council libraries and more.

Find your local safe drop-off point, see comments ๐Ÿ‘‡
