Drive with Care During Wet Weather ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

Catchments including the Mossman River, Daintree River and Bloomfield River remain on a flood watch. These areas are already quite wet after recent rainfall and can respond quickly with further heavy rain.

๐Ÿš™ When driving in wet conditions, please remember to:
๐Ÿ‘‰Slow down and drive to the conditions
๐Ÿ‘‰Allow extra time for your journey
๐Ÿ‘‰Take care near creeks, rivers and lowโ€‘lying areas
๐Ÿ‘‰Avoid driving through water where possible
๐Ÿ‘‰ Turn on your lights
๐Ÿ‘‰ leave extra space between you and the car in front

Conditions can change quickly, so staying alert and planning ahead can help everyone get where theyโ€™re going safely.

Catchments likely to be affected include:
โ€ข Daintree River
โ€ข Mossman River
โ€ข Mulgrave and Russell Rivers
โ€ข Tully River
โ€ข Murray River
โ€ข Herbert River

Great news โ€” the Daintree Ferry is now back in operation.

We know this has been a really tough period for the community, and we sincerely thank everyone for their patience, understanding and support while works were carried out.

A huge thank you as well to everyone who worked so hard to get the ferry back up and running.

Douglas Shire Council and Entrada are ready to reopen the Daintree Ferry from 5.00am tomorrow morning, however the Daintree River is now in flood. This means there is a risk the ferry may not be able to operate until river levels recede.

If the river is in flood at 4.30am, based on the Daintree Village gauge, or if conditions are marginal, the reopening will be delayed until at least 7.00am so conditions can be reassessed in daylight.

We know this is disappointing news for the community after such a long wait, and we sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding.

Please be assured the ferry is ready to resume service as soon as it is safe to do so.

A sincere thank you as well to everyone who has worked so hard to get the ferry ready before Easter.

We are monitoring the situation closely and will share a further update as soon as a decision can be made.
