This morning’s $200 million announcement for wage increases is the result of years of blood, sweat and tears from bus workers.

Bus workers made themselves heard at the TWU’s Bus Industry Roundtable at NSW Parliament, where they told the Transport Minister and Treasurer directly about the realities of the bus industry.

The TWU has worked to deliver a funding increase for all bus workers, but this is only the beginning.
Coupled with last month’s historic ruling allowing the Union to negotiate a Multi-Employer Agreement (MEA) on the behalf of over 5000 bus workers, the TWU will be asking for bus workers to receive the best possible pay and conditions in these negotiations so as to make sure that the bus industry becomes viable once again.

Bus workers have worked hard for years to achieve the right to negotiate for a Multi-Employer Agreement (MEA) in 2026, but there is still lots of work to do.
Bus members have been meeting face-to-face with NSW Government MPs from around the metro and outer metro regions to discuss what the day-to-day reality of the industry is like, and how the Government can be part of the solution to a fairer, more sustainable industry 🚎

Last week's historic Multi-Employer Agreement (MEA) ruling is already making waves. In 2026, momentum has been building from bus workers across the industry in support of this year's push for a better industry.
There is still work to do to get a fair result. Bus workers have been catching up with Officials in countless yards, like Allison did here with members at UGO Taren Point, endorsing the MEA.

Bus workers are making themselves heard - and they're getting results.

Bus Members of the Transport Workers' Union spoke truth to power at our Bus Industry Roundtable late last year, where employers, the Premier and Government Ministers heard first-hand about conditions in the industry and the need for investment.

This week, bus workers have made history by securing the right to negotiate for a Multi-Employer Agreement (MEA), which would cover more than 5000 workers. This comes off the back of the Moving NSW Western Sydney Bus Forum, where bus workers spoke to business leaders and local decision makers about the great things investment in the industry could achieve.

We are making huge progress on the Road to Respect, but there is still work to do. By standing together, we can achieve a better, more viable bus industry 🚌

Today, we were out in Parramatta talking to the community about the crisis in the bus industry.

Bus drivers are integral workers, who play a vital role in our communities. But a chronic driver shortage, a result of worsening conditions for drivers, is a factor that has led to services getting worse.
