Yesterday, MECA was honoured to attend the workshop “ALL IN: Nature Based Arts & Ecotherapy for Reconciliation in Practice“ hosted by and facilitated by Karen Fernando.
The workshop provided a meaningful space for reflection, learning and connection through nature-based creative practice. Participants engaged in self-exploration through connection with the natural environment and explored how creative, nature-based approaches can be used in work with individuals, families, children and communities.
A key focus of the session was deepening understanding of the relationship between Aboriginal peoples and Country, acknowledging the enduring connection to land, waterways, sky, plants, animals, kinship systems and totems. The workshop highlighted how nature-based practice can support reconciliation by fostering respect, awareness and a deeper sense of connection to Country and culture.
