The South Australian State Emergency Service (SASES) is a volunteer-based organisation that responds to a wide range of emergencies and rescues across the state 24-hours a day, seven days a week, 365-days a year. Primarily responsible for responding to extreme weather (including storms and extreme heat) and fl

ooding events, the SASES also responds to road crash, marine, swiftwater, vertical and confined space rescues. SASES has a number of legislative roles, including exercising responsibilities as the Control Agency for flooding, extreme weather and structural collapse. SASES is also the Hazard Leader for extreme weather including storms and heatwaves. The SASES, SA Country Fire Service (CFS) and SA Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) are the three main emergency service organisations that comprise the fire and emergency services sector in South Australia. All three organisations operate under the guidance of the South Australian Fire and Emergency Services Commission (SAFECOM) and report to the South Australian Minister for Emergency Services. The SASES assists the South Australian Police (SAPOL) in land search operations and traffic management and plays an important support role to the CFS during major bushfires. SASES members - which currently number over 1600 - also devote considerable time helping raise the community's awareness of a range of natural hazards.

πŸ“Έ We can finally share some photos from a recent school visit to Mount Gambier SES!

Around 60 students joined us to learn about emergency preparedness, explore our vehicles and equipment, and discover what SES volunteers do to support our community.

There were plenty of questions, smiles and hands-on learning throughout the day. A huge thank you to our volunteers who helped make the visit both educational and memorable.

Who knows... we may have met a few future SES volunteers! 🧑🚨

πŸ’ͺ🧑 PUSH-UP CHALLENGE – WE'RE BACK TOMORROW! 🧑πŸ’ͺ

The Mount Gambier SES volunteers will be back at Mount Gambier Marketplace tomorrow from 10:00am to 11:00am for another morning of push-ups in support of the Push-Up Challenge.

Come down, say hello, cheer us on, or better yet... jump in and show us your push-up skills! Every push-up helps raise awareness and support for mental health in our community.

We have nominated Lifeline South East to receive the funds we raise, helping ensure local people can access valuable mental health support when they need it most.

If you can't make it but would still like to support the cause, you can donate using the link below:

We've also shared Lifeline's recap video from last week – take a look and see the incredible impact this challenge is having across our community.

Let's work together as one community for a great cause. We look forward to seeing you there!

The Push-Up Challenge is on in June! Join our team to get fit, have fun and learn about mental health.

🚨 Weekly Wrap-Up | Mount Gambier SES 🚨

Mount Gambier and surrounding communities were fortunate to escape major impacts from the severe weather that moved through the region early this week.

Thank you to everyone who prepared ahead of the weather warnings and helped keep themselves, their families and their properties safe. πŸ‘

Our volunteers responded to:
πŸ“ 2 June – Naracoorte, assisting with rain damage to a home.
πŸ“ 3 June – Road crash rescue at Tarpeena.
πŸ“ 4 June – Tree down in Mount Gambier in the early hours of the morning.

When not responding to incidents, our members continued developing their skills. This weekend several volunteers undertook drone training, with another group scheduled to complete the training in the coming weeks. 🚁

A huge thank you to our volunteers for their ongoing commitment to supporting the community across Mount Gambier and the Limestone Coast, whatever the weather. 🧑

πŸ’ͺ🧑 What a great Saturday morning at Mount Gambier Central!

SES, MFS and Lifeline South East came together for The Push-Up Challenge, raising awareness for mental health and having plenty of fun along the way.

Together we completed 375 push-ups, with a few extra reps from members of the community. A special mention to one young champion who showed us all how it's done, and even our youngest participant joined in, proving you're never too young to take on The Push-Up Challenge! πŸ‘ΆπŸ’ͺ

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, had a chat, joined in, cheered us on or made a donation.

πŸ“ Find us again next weekend at Mount Gambier Marketplace, and then join us on 20 June for our big Push-Up Challenge finale and BBQ at Jetts Mount Gambier!

🧑 Every push-up starts a conversation. Every conversation matters.
