Residents at Avalon Village were transported to Scotland with a comforting feast inspired by traditional Scottish flavours for lunch today.

On the menu was a delicious selection of classic dishes, including Scottish Beef Stew (Stovies) — a hearty, slow-cooked meal packed with rich flavours and warmth. They also enjoyed Rumbledthumps, a traditional Scottish potato bake combining creamy potatoes with wholesome ingredients for the perfect winter comfort dish.

To finish the feast, residents were treated to Ecclefechan Tart, a classic Scottish fruit pie offering a sweet and satisfying end to the meal.

With the cool winter weather outside, this Scottish-inspired spread was the perfect combination of hearty flavours and warmth!

Today's lunch took our residents on a delicious journey to Nepal!

Our Nepalese Fiesta featured a traditional Dal Bhat Tarkari platter with fragrant lentil soup, steamed rice, seasonal vegetables and pickled greens. To complete the feast, residents also enjoyed freshly made Momos (Nepalese dumplings) and Sel Roti, a traditional ring-shaped rice doughnut that's a much-loved Nepalese favourite. 🇳🇵

Today's Indian-inspired lunch at our Harvest Dining Hall was full of flavour, featuring tender Tandoori Chicken with refreshing mint sauce, steamed rice and crispy vegetable Bhaji.

🍽️ Today's Theme Lunch: Filipino Fiesta! 🇵🇭

Today, Harvest Dining Hall was filled with the delicious aromas of the Philippines as our residents enjoyed a Filipino Fiesta for lunch. The menu featured tender Pork Adobo served with steamed rice, a fried egg and fresh Ensaladang Kamatis, all finished off with a classic Leche Flan for dessert. 😋

Where has the week gone? It's Friday Theme Lunch again!

Today's special at Harvest Dining Hall was the famous Mechada Italiana. If you haven't heard of it before, it's often called one of South America's best sandwiches!

Packed with slow-cooked beef, fresh tomato, avocado, mayo, and served on freshly baked homemade bread, it was a delicious way to end the week.

Just when we thought we’d run out of lunch themes, our amazing Food Services team pulled this one out of the bag, a New Orleans NOLA-inspired soul food feast!

Avalon's residents were treated to classic Southern-style favourites including crispy fried pickles, Cajun corn salad, Dirty Rice and fresh Beignets dusted in icing sugar.

Now the real question is… where can we find this in Brisbane?!

Today’s lunch was inspired by the flavours of Greece, continuing the celebration after last week’s Greek Festival (Paniyiri).

We’re not ones to let anyone miss out on the fun, so we brought the festival straight to Avalon for our residents to enjoy a taste of the celebrations right here at home.

The menu featured all the classics; slow-roasted lamb, Greek salad, pita, tzatziki, hummus and grilled halloumi cheese.

And of course, no Paniyiri-inspired feast would be complete without Loukoumades (honey puffs) served for dessert! Opa! 🇬🇷
