Julien Wilson Quartet @ Gin and Jazz Night

Julien Wilson has been an integral voice on the Australian jazz and improvised music scene for over 3 decades. He has been awarded the APRA Art Music Award for Excellence in Jazz, The Freedman Fellowship for Jazz, and a handful of Australian Jazz “Bell” Awards for his album This Is Always and as Jazz Artist of The Year.

As well as running his own well established trio and quartet and touring extensively overseas, Julien was a long term member of the Black Arm Band and the Australian Art Orchestra. He has toured with local legends including Archie Roach, Vince Jones and The Saints, performed as a featured soloist with Kurt Elling and the Melbourne and Sydney Symphony Orchestras, and shared the stage with international artists including Charlie Haden, Hermeto Pascoal, Brian Wilson, Mavis Staples & Hugh Masekala.

For this special performance at Duneira Julien will perform jazz standards and a handful of original compositions with guitarist Nashua Lee, legendary Melbourne drummer Sam Bates, and young bassist Charlie Rank. Julien and Nashua share a long musical history together including work with 12ToneDiamonds and Barney McAll, and they have performed as a trio with Sam for over twenty years and have been working together regularly in 2026 as a quartet.

Walk the estate and get inspired by the Autumn colours, set up in the Loungeroom by the fire, and Miffy will help guide you through your process with your chosen medium.

Come along dressed in your finest 1870’s Ball attire and enjoy a night of dancing, conversation, magical music, Cobb and Co horse and carriage rides, Hanging Rock wines and Macedon Brut Cuvée, award winning local Gin Cocktails and a sensational supper. All this and more included in your ticket.

Music will fill the night air as we start with Victorian themed ball dances from the 1870;s. As the night goes on we pay homage to Duneira’s founders, the Officer Family and enjoy highland Scottish reels to dance the night away.

This is an exclusive event with limited tickets and an exceptional chance to experience a social event that Duneira’s historic villa was built for in 1876.

On the 28th of January from 5-7pm, The Classical Collective Trio will be presenting a program of magical duets and arias, drawn from the gems of Baroque, Classical and Romantic eras. Enjoy Bizet’s Habanera, Offenbach’s Belle Nuit, and Delibe’s Flower Duet, amongst works from Mozart, Vivaldi and other greats, all accompanied on the full size grand piano in the intimate yet auspicious surrounds of the Duneira Estate grand lounge room. Finish off your experience with a promenade in the stunning, manicured gardens with a glass of wine. An evening of musical delights for the heart and mind, and nature’s gifts for the body.

Come along for a lovely afternoon making a bespoke Christmas Wreath for your home from Duneira’s abundance of foliage and flowers.
