MBRC have updated the actions to take when you hear the siren so everyone knows how to respond and stay safe in a fire emergency.

These siren tones will be sounded for as long as the threat remains on any of the levels.

🟠 Prepare to Leave: Up and down wave siren sounded every 3 hours.

🚨 Too Dangerous to Leave, shelter in place: Constant siren sounded every 15 minutes.

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) intend to undertake a hazard reduction burn (weather permitting) commencing tomorrow, Tuesday February 25, to Friday February 28, within the Mount Nebo and Mount Glorious section of the D’Aguilar National Park. Please see attached a map and Google Earth files for the maximum extent of the burn areas.

This will be a staged burn (weather permitting), with ground crews lighting up approximately 11ha tomorrow, prior to aerial ignition lighting to internal sections of the burn block on Thursday, February 27.

The total area of the burn block is 793ha, however it is expected that approximately 100ha will burn.

Ignition will commence at approximately 10:00 am Tuesday 25 February, with crews working to late evening and be returning the following days to patrol the area. As a result, smoke will the seen in the in Mount Nebo, Mount Glorious, Banks Creek, England Creek and Highvale
