Winter… fireside and I’m a few short weeks we’ll be back outdoors on the verandah.

Sefton, as always, has a flower for every day of the year. Peeking from the dining room just now on a cold but sunny winter’s day, I noticed how well the white hellebore and white camellia sit so beautifully against the dark green of their foliage.

It’s mid winter but in the rainforest in Sefton’s southern corner there is no frost, snow or wind. This area has its own microclimate a few degrees warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Our project here has been about native and endemic regeneration. Once we removed the weeds we have been replanting the local tree ferns, eucalypts and the mountain banksia which is unique to Mt Wilson.

From my favourite spot in the garden….The clear sunny days this year make every view a painting. In the distance is the arch through to the main lawn and beyond to the house.
