Yesterday before the rain set in members from Muchea along with Bindoon joined Lower Chittering on a hazard reduction burn. It was great for the brigades to be able to catch up and for our newer members to work on some skills and add to the hours that are required for them to be signed off.
Thanks Lower Chittering Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade for the invite and Bindoon Bush Fire Brigade.

So we saved the best for the last day of National Volunteer Week.
This month at our AGM Shelly stood down as Captain. This is a position she has held for 10 years and to say we are all grateful for her commitment is an understatement. We wanted to recognise Shelly for all that she has done for the brigade and community and awarded her with Life Membership.
Shelly, Thankyou for all of your support and we are very glad you are still staying around to guide and support others on their volunteer journey.

Happy Mothers Day to all the volunteer mums and all the mums that hold down the fort at home allowing us to head out and help others.

Happy Mother's Day to all the incredible mums out there, especially those in our emergency services ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’™

For Ruvi, being a mum means the joy of shaping little lives into kind, caring people... and of course, the endless hugs along the way!

Ruvi and her family have called the Kimberley home for the past 10 years, after moving from Zimbabwe to Melbourne and then finally settling in Fitzroy Crossing and embracing life in a remote community. Over the last three years, she has been proudly serving alongside her husband as part of the Fitzroy Crossing Volunteer Fire and Emergency Services.

We'd love to see your photos, hear an iconic story or simply tag that person you want to celebrate today ๐Ÿ™Œ

This afternoon we had a small busy bee at the station to get ready for our station extension that is due to start in May. One big item to sort was the slab of granite that has out station dedication on it. It would be in the way for the new extension and we didnโ€™t want it damaged.
Great work team!

Tonight at our meeting Ray Jordan was presented with his 10 year Bush Fire Service Medal.
Thanks Ray for all that you do for the brigade and our community. You have been a mentor for many and we arenโ€™t allowing you to retire quite yet!
Pictured is our Captain Shelly presenting Ray with his medal.

In an effort to combat the rising fuel costs and to avoid fuel rationing. Muchea Volunteer Bushfire Brigade has made the decision to swap from our 4.4 and 2.4 heavies and our Light Tanker to our Ultra Light Tankers.

Please still continue to move left when you see us approaching and make sure to slow down to 40kms when passing one of our appliances
