Mullum brigade members wish everyone a safe and happy Easter.
If you’re travelling stay safe and hopefully the Easter Bunny finds you.
It’s also a reminder to wind your clocks back 1 hour and change your smoke detector battery.

Have you checked your smoke alarm?
If you haven’t make sure you put this on your calendar to do this week

As daylight saving ends and we gain an extra hour, it’s a great opportunity to take a moment for home fire safety. It is important to check your smoke alarms to ensure they’re working properly.

It’s crucial your home has working smoke alarms, as they provide an early warning and give you and your family valuable time to escape during a house fire.

With the cooler months approaching, please stay safe this winter. There are several simple steps you can take, such as creating a home escape plan, ensuring your smoke alarm is working and keeping all items at least a meter from the heater.

On Sunday afternoon the brigade was paged to a fire in New Brighton.
The fire was eventually located on a small island to the north of Brunswick Heads.
Not having “Floaties” for our truck….a very Good Samaritan kindly took some of our crew, a portable pump and hose across to the island on his boat as there were reports that a person had burns. We nicknamed it Boatie-bimby 😍😍
If you know this kind person…..please convey our thanks.

Permitted Burn

There is a Current permit to burn on Left Bank Road Mullum creek.
This will produce smoke in the vicinity of Frasers Road and Left Bank/Mullum Creek Road
The landowner is in attendance.

The brigade volunteers have already been responded to false alarm calls to ‘Smoke in the Vicinity”.

Please only ring Triple zero if you see this burn has escaped
Thanks

Another busy 12 hours.

At approximately 1am the brigade was paged to an appliance fire. Whilst no fire, a wall had been blown out of the home. Members investigated to ensure the home was safe and confirm there was no risk of Fire.

At approximately 1pm this afternoon we were paged to a motor vehicle accident on the M1. Thankfully there were no injuries except to the caravan.
