Dalkeith CFS was established in 1994 after an amalgamation of 2 SACFS brigades Smithfield CFS 1963-1994 and Evanston Gardens CFS 1969-1994. We train every Monday evening from 7:30pm till 10pm but feel free to drop in anytime you see us there. Our brigade is your brigade.

Last night members of the Dalkeith CFS attended a Shaka Project meeting hosted at the SA SES Gawler Unit. 🤙

The Shaka Project focuses on creating conversations around mental health, encouraging people to check in on one another, and reminding us that it’s okay to talk when things aren’t going well.

For emergency service personnel, nights like these are incredibly important. Whether it’s responding to fires, motor vehicle accidents, rescues, storms, or other incidents, we are regularly exposed to situations that can take a toll on us over time. While we train hard to look after our communities, it’s just as important that we look after ourselves and each other.

These meetings provide a valuable opportunity to connect, share experiences, learn from one another, and reinforce the message that no one has to carry their burdens alone.

One of the biggest takeaways from the evening was the importance of checking in on your mates. Sometimes a simple conversation can make all the difference.

Check on your mates.
Check on your crew.
Ask the question.
Listen to the answer.

Mental health is just as important as physical health, and looking after one another is part of being a strong team.

Thank you to The Shaka Project and the. Gawler State Emergency Service for facilitating such an important conversation.

🤙 One conversation can change a life.

Last night we had the honour of delivering a prevention workshop to the community at SES Gawler & CFS Dalkeith. This incredible group of volunteers tackle some pretty challenging days, all in service to the community they love. We truly are so grateful to be given the opportunity to have just an important conversation 💚

More conversation, less stigma. 🤙🏽

🔥🚪Forcible Entry Training - Nuriootpa CFS🚪🔥

A couple training nights ago, a crew from Dalkeith CFS travelled to Nuriootpa CFS to participate in specialised forcible entry training utilising their dedicated entry prop.

The session provided members with hands-on, dynamic scenarios in forcible entry, tool selection and application, scene considerations, and crew coordination learning control words such as Strike (Single Hit), Drive (Multiple Hits), and Stop (Cease activity) in a controlled training environment.

Training opportunities such as these are essential in maintaining operational capability and ensuring crews remain prepared for incidents requiring rapid access like Entry Assistance requests from SA Ambulance Service

We thank Nuriootpa CFS for hosting the session and for their ongoing support of inter-brigade training and capability development across the service.

We are proud to have Dalkeith CFS represented at Parliament House this week for the St Florian’s Day reception.

A great time recognising the hard work and commitment of emergency service volunteers across SA. Thanks to James Agness MP and Rhiannon Pearce MP for the invitation and ongoing support.

When our community faces tough times, this group of people is the first to run towards danger, to protect us.

Our firefighters and emergency service personnel deserve thanks every day, but I wanted to especially thank them with a reception at Parliament this week.

Thank you to Emergency Services Minister Rhiannon Pearce MP for joining me in thanking these hard working volunteers, as we marked St Florians Day - International Firefighters' Day.

HELP US GROW! 🚒🌱 Our Garden Revamp is Back on Track!

If you’ve driven past the station lately, you might have noticed a bit of extra activity! We are officially back at work on our garden and grounds makeover.

As many in our community know, we actually kicked this project off last year. However, work came to an immediate halt when one of our members suffered a significant medical emergency. We chose to put our tools down and focus all our energy on supporting our teammate and their family during that time. Now that things have stabilized, we are ready to get the job finished!

We’re aiming to get the station looking its best, but we need a hand from our amazing community to get across the finish line.

We are looking for donations either financially or with the following materials and services:

Earthmoving: Mini Excavators, Kangas, or similar (dry or wet hire).

Concrete: Mini Concrete Truck loads for fencing/edging/paths.

Landscaping Supplies: Loam 23T and Rubble (for our emergency driveway).

Fencing: Good Neighbour fencing materials and/or help with installation.

How you can help:
If you own a local business and can donate any of the above, we’d love to feature you as a project partner! Alternatively, if you’d like to make a financial donation to help us purchase these materials directly, every dollar goes straight back into the brigade facilities.

Interested in helping?
Please reach out to Matt directly at [email protected], send us a DM or call 0447679917 to discuss how you can get involved.

Thank you for your ongoing support while we get this project back on track! 🛠️🚒

🌺 Anzac Day Memorial 🌺

Today, Dalkeith CFS proudly stood alongside our community to commemorate ANZAC Day.

Our members attended the local service to pay their respects to the brave men and women who have served and sacrificed for our country.

We were especially honoured to have two of our members lay a wreath at the memorial on behalf of our brigade.

ANZAC Day is a time to reflect on courage, mateship, and resilience — values that continue to guide us in our service to the community.

Lest we forget. 🌺
