With his enthusiasm and knowledge, Zeke not only shared the secrets of the compass but also had a lot to say about the magical world of magnets. It's incredible to see young minds ignite with curiosity and passion for nature's wonders. 🌟

🦎 Nature's Unexpected Co-Star! 🌞🌿

Say hello to our uninvited yet charming little guest, who had no intentions of vacating the spotlight next to our sign! 📸

In a classic case of nature doing its own thing, this determined lizard held its ground, showing us who's boss of the basking spot. 😄 So, we decided to let it share the stage with our temporary sign.

It's a delightful reminder that when we embrace the great outdoors, we also embrace the spontaneity and surprises it brings, often in the form of our amazing wildlife friends. 🌳🌟

🌿 Tick Awareness Alert

As we embrace the beauty of the Australian outdoors, it's essential to remember to check ourselves and our loved ones for ticks after spending time in nature. 🌳

Ticks can sometimes hitch a ride on clothing or skin, and early detection is crucial to ensure everyone's well-being. Here's a quick tick-check reminder:

1. After your outdoor adventure, carefully inspect your body, clothing, and gear.
2. Pay special attention to hidden areas like behind the ears, underarms, groin, and hairline.
3. If you find a tick, remove it gently and completely using fine-tipped tweezers. Be cautious not to squeeze or twist it.
4. Clean the bite area with soap and water and apply an antiseptic.

Remember, early detection and safe removal are key to preventing tick-related issues. Enjoy your time in the great outdoors, but stay tick-savvy for a safer experience! 🌞🌿

🌱✨ What a Day of Fun! ✨🌳

We're absolutely thrilled to share that our recent playgroup was a success! 😄

Our little explorers had a blast playing with natural clay, sculpting their own mini landscapes, and getting creative with stick-and-leaf birthday cakes. It was a day filled with imagination, and hands-on messy play in the heart of nature.

Thank you to all the families who joined us in making this day truly special. Your enthusiasm and love for the outdoors make our playgroup adventures unforgettable. 🌿🎂

SEPTEMBER IS PLATYPUS MONTH!

To celebrate BCCA is supporting the Australian Conservation Foundation's Platy-project by collecting sightings from the Burnett Community for the month of September. These sighting will be provided to the Platy-project and recorded in iNaturalist.

We are also encouraging community to get involved in the Platy-project by visiting https://platy-project.acf.org.au/ and by heading down to their local creek or river, finding a quiet place on the bank, trying to spot a platypus and record what you see.

Platypus facts (from Wildlife Queensland):
• The platypus is an iconic Australian animal. Along with the echidna, the platypus forms part of an exclusive mammal grouping called the monotremes. They are the world’s only egg-laying mammals.
• The platypus is the only venomous Australian mammal. The male platypus can inject venom using a sharp hollow claw-like spur located just above the heel of each hind leg.
• Platypus have three layers of thick brown fur. The density of their coat is an incredible 600 - 900 hairs per square millimetre which keeps water from penetrating and protects them from the cold.

As I gear up for the weekend, I can't help but marvel at my workspace – the great outdoors! 🌿🌞

While many head into conventional offices, I’m here, surrounded by nature's beauty, getting everything ready for our upcoming adventures. It's not just a job; it's a passion, and I’m incredibly grateful for the privilege of working in the "best office in the world."

Our equipment may be boots and bumbags, our desks rocks and fallen logs, but the rewards are beyond measure. We get to foster a love for nature, ignite young imaginations, and watch as kids discover the wonders of the wild.

So, here's to our unconventional office and the incredible journeys it brings. We can't wait to share this weekend's adventures with all of you!
