The fire danger season is over for this summer 🔥🔥

However warm days still bring a risk of fires, please take caution when burning off. And if you see a fire that you think poses a risk don't hesitate to call 000

Burning within the town limits is restricted to clean burning comfort or cooking - So Pizza ovens, small fire pits etc.
These fire need to be small, with good clearances and CLEAN burn - no green waste, plastics, rubbish etc.

This "clean" air zone covers the township of Murray Bridge including the eastside (border Karoonda hwy & Loddon rd), if you need to burn green waste a permit under certain conditions is available from the council.

Free green waste days are also available throughout the year.

More information about burning in the town limits is available from the council

In a bid to reduce response times we are now doing driver training on the speedway track, teaching our drivers the fine art of truck control

With the first graduate's passing recently the feedback from the Murray Bridge crew has been awesome

"This style of training gives me alot more confidence behind the wheel" LT Smith

"I can now slide a truck like the Captain" FF White

It's hoped this training can be offered to other brigades in the area in the coming months.

Remember life is too short to take everything seriously.... Happy April 1st 🎉

We have something new... well new to us anyway

Earlier this month we received our refurbished 34P, previously based at Mannum this truck has been modified and fitted out to carry the current standard equipment for a truck of this type.

The crews received a brief overview of the truck on delivery night and have been busy training on it since

This truck now carries more specialist urban equipment then our previous one, and increases the capacity for our brigade to respond to urban style events.

This a huge win, not just for the Murray Bridge community but for the surrounding areas

If you want to become a firefighter contact us today, we are always looking for new volunteers

Hi Murray Bridge Community,

We have noticed some drone footage of the current fire at Mobilong being shared on a few pages on social media,

Please follow the rules when it comes to using your drone, we understand that footage of a fire looks good. But what's also good is air support for the ground crews

Firefighting aircraft cannot fly if a drone is spotted or active within the zone around the fire,

Please refer to the "Know your drone" website for more information regarding this

Thanks 👍

Its with heavy hearts we acknowledge the recent passing of Roger Kilpatrick,

Roger served in the CFS for more than 44 years joining the Murray Bridge Brigade in 1981 and was still active in the brigade, Most of his later years where spent in the regional operational bridge he join them in 2000 and was still active in both brigades,

During his time he attended many incidents locally and travelled interstate twice in 1994 & 2001 to NSW, He took part in training sessions and mock incidents passing on his experiences to others. Some of his efforts are still visible today as he contributed to projects like the station extensions, Equipment improvements and truck builds.

Roger is a Life member of both the Murray Bridge Brigade (1992) and the SACFS (1996), he received his CFS service medal 40 year clasp (2022) and National Medal (1996 - 1st clasp 2016 & 2nd clasp 2019)

Over his time in CFS he held the ranks of Lieutenant (13 years) , Senior Firefighter (6 years), Murray Bridge Brigade Captain (5 years) and Swanport Deputy group officer (4 years), along with holding positions of, Cadet Coordinator(Group & Brigade), Brigade Communications coordinator and Group logistics coordinator.

We will miss his cheeky grin, words of advice and the respect he showed others. Rodgers mentorship, leadership and commitment to his community has helped shaped the brigade into what it is today.

Rogers community impact spans further just the SACFS, he was active in the Murray Bridge Speedway, Murraylands Mens Shed and Murray Bridge Loins Club - He also appeared in a red suit at numerous events 🎅

Our thoughts go out to his family at this time who where also members of the brigade over the years.

Roger the time has come for you to hang up your helmet, Thank you for your Service

May you Rest in Peace

This post is taken from one done for the the Mid North, I will put thr original in the comments.

At Murray Bridge we are always recruiting, we constantly post about needing Volunteers and each time I do an interview to the media I always mention we need more volunteers.

But we STILL have empty lockers, empty seats when the trucks roll out the door and sometimes empty trucks ....

Murray Bridge has a population of 12,000 + , with that number again in our council area. But yet our brigades are short on numbers 🤔

CFS volunteers are normal people, office workers, IT techs, truck drivers, sales people, mothers & fathers. You don't need special skills to join, just to be able bodied, a team player and want to help the community

People often are worried about the training and requirements to get in, its a police check (paid for by CFS), acceptance into the brigade and a weekend course..... its not that hard

Here in Murray Bridge we have about 30 members currently, but if we where to fill every seat in our trucks in the event of a large scale incident we need 20 people to fill the seats... but then we need radio operators, strike team leaders, planning and logistics coordinators

So we haven't you joined, if a event like what we are seeing in Victoria happens here in SA, Are you just going to go about your day to day life or are you going to help your community.

Every fire isn't huge and raging, every car accident isn't bloody .... most of our jobs go un noticed by many - but we get noticed by th ones we help.

So do it... contact your nearest brigade and join up today
