**PONDI PLAYSPACE COMING SOON**
We're so excited to announce that construction will soon begin on the giant Pondi Playspace at Murray Bridge’s Sturt Reserve.
The award-winning design, inspired by Ngarrindjeri Dreaming stories, culture, heritage and country - is the flagship riverfront development of a much bigger Sturt Reserve Master Plan.
Focused on play, culture and connection, the design has won accolades for its extensive co-design process with Ngarrindjeri Ruwe Empowered Communities (NREC) and outdoor design specialists.
It will replace the 20+ year old playground - and not only includes installation of the iconic giant Murray Cod (Pondi) climbing and play structure (pictured), but also be flanked by a flying fox, swings, sand play, slides, trampoline and disability accessible play equipment. It also includes sheltered seating, shade structures, outdoor classroom, soundscape installation, bins, barbecues, drinking fountain, public artworks, lighting, landscaping and more.
Special thanks to the Australian Government’s Major and Local Community Infrastructure Program (MLCIP) for its $4.85M grant that will help us complete this much-needed upgrade.
Thankyou to our Mayor Wayne Thorley, CEO Heather Barclay and NREC Leaders Aunty Janice Walker and Laurie Rankine Jnr for helping us announce the news today!
Work is set to start before Christmas this year, and we’ll keep you updated as the project progresses.
