The biodiversity team was excited to come across this little beauty while out maintaining our bush reserves.

This Olive Snake-lizard is a species of legless gecko. They are commonly found in South Australia, preferring to inhabit grasslands and grassy woodlands.

You’re most likely to encounter one during the warmer months while they’re out foraging for their next meal of insects. During the cooler months they become dormant, either burying themselves in the ground or find a hiding place under debris.

Botanical name: 𝘿𝙚𝙡𝙢𝙖 𝙄𝙣𝙤𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙖

✨ What a night!

A huge thank you to the 3,000+ people who joined us at Murray Bridge Glows on Saturday night and made it our BIGGEST crowd on record for this event!

From glowing displays and fire performances to live music, carriage rides, the silent disco, delicious food and cosy fires, it was fantastic to see Diamond Park and Edwards Square come alive.

Special thanks to our Diamond Sponsor, SpryCrete, and Silver Sponsor, Iberdrola Australia. Without their support, this event would not have been possible.

We hope you enjoyed the magic, made some memories and had a wonderful night with your family and friends.

🎥 Here’s a little glimpse of the night…

Stay tuned - there’s more Glows to come! ✨

🧠 Dementia Action Week 2026

Monday 21 – Sunday 27 September

Dementia Action Week begins with World Alzheimer’s Day on Monday 21 September. Murray Bridge Council is proud to support Dementia Australia and the Murray Bridge Community Centre to raise awareness and understanding in our community.

What is dementia?

Dementia describes a collection of symptoms caused by disorders affecting the brain. It impacts memory, thinking, behaviour and the ability to perform everyday tasks.

Did you know?

An estimated 446,500 Australians are currently living with dementia

Dementia is now the leading cause of death in Australia (AIHW)

In Murray Bridge, around 500 people were living with dementia in 2025, and this number is expected to double by 2054

💬 2026 Theme: It’s time to talk about dementia

Change starts with conversation.

This September, we’re encouraging everyone to start talking — with family and friends, in workplaces, and across the community.

By talking about dementia, we:

Build understanding

Reduce stigma

Create stronger support networks for those affected

From local businesses to GPs, from community groups to leaders, everyone has a role to play.
