❄️ How great to see the Daylesford Railway Y-Class train hauling their V/Line N18 carriages out to Bullarto Station for the Winter Sounds Festival at the Bullarto Hall!!

🛑 Just serves as a reminder while Daylesford Spa Country Railway runs every Sunday, we may get surprised sometimes at various, non gated railway crossings between Daylesford and Bullarto. That’s why it’s incredibly important to obey Stop signs at level crossings… you never know when you might meet a train 🚂

VESEP is how we at Musk FB are funding the rest of our community funded second tanker. With submission in, we should find out if we’ve been successful soon!

🤞🤞
Thank you to all who generously donated 🙏

A big boost for Lurg Fire Brigade, with a new light tanker now ready to support local firefighters. The new truck was funded through the Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program (VESEP), which supports CFA brigades to upgrade and replace ageing equipment.

Thanks to this new vehicle, crews will be better equipped to respond to incidents across the region.

ℹ️ Want to know how you can help us and help our other colleagues from other brigades…

🏡 Clean up around your property so fire trucks have the best access possible. Below is a picture explaining the bare minimum of clearance from Daylesford CFA. Showing Daylesford Tanker 1, the biggest truck in the Glenlyon Group. Not only in water capacity, 4000 litres, but in terms of hight, width, length and weight at 15 tonnes.

🚒 For more information, go to Daylesford CFA page and see the full post.

👏Meet District 15 Spare Tanker 1… filling in for Musk Tanker while it’s offline for some body repairs.

You may remember we had a similar truck for a week in December last year. This is what’s known as a CFA 3.4D tanker, based on a 1999 Isuzu FSR750 4x4. That means 3000 litres of water and 4 wheel drive, “D” means diesel, back when CFA First introduced 3.4d tankers a lot of tankers still had Petrol V8’s. Even though it’s single cab, it has more seats then our own truck with 6 members able to ride either 3 in the cab or 3 seats on the deck in the ROPS area.

🚒 When put into service it was Timboon Tanker then some time past before getting made a District Spare Tanker. We thank the Ballarat DMO (District Mechanical Officers) who dropped of the spare truck for us 👍

🔥 On Monday night, we went training in and around Daylesford’s Lake Rd and Patterson St area. We borrowed Hepburn Tanker 2 for the night, which is similar to what we have been fundraising for over the past 12 months. (Grant is summited so we are waiting to see if we’ve been successful or not 🙏🤞)

Crews drew water from a static source with Tanker 2 (draughting) which is a bit different than our truck, then we split up. Musk Tanker crews drove up Paterson St and simulated an off the deck, grass fire attack. While Tanker 2 crews bowled hoses. We then swapped over and repeated once again. We also topped off our big night of training by setting up a hydrant at one of many fire plugs scattered throughout Daylesford and Hepburn.

This night was well crewed, made it worth borrowing Hepburn’s truck. Musk FB thank Hepburn FB for allowing us to use their fantastic little truck and hopefully we get one of our own down the track!

🚒 Turns out there’s been some confusion on what Firefighter Ryan Orr had done on Sunday in Darley.

Blame his brother lol (who wrote the post)

In Darley on Sunday, Ryan did the 1000+ stair climb as Training for the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb in September! While still an amazing effort training like he is, he still has the real challenge ahead of him in September.

Please if you’re able, donate to Ryan or to find out any info about the Stair Climb, go to the link below ⬇️
