Warren Destruction Program — White Peak Bridle Trails Service Area

The Shire of Chapman Valley wishes to advise that a rabbit warren destruction program is scheduled to be undertaken within the White Peak Bridle Trails service area in the near future. Letters will be delivered on Friday/Sat 14/15th to affected residents along the Wittenoom, Redcliffe, Parmelia & Eliza Shaw bridle trails.

The works are to be carried out by Central Fumigation & Pest Management Services using an R3 Concussive Unit to treat identified rabbit warrens in the area.
The contractor has advised that the program is expected to take between one and two days to complete, depending on the number of warrens that can be accessed and treated.

The estimated date of the works are as follows:
Estimated date: Monday 17th & Tuesday 18th August

Please note that the above timing is indicative only and may change due to weather conditions, site access requirements, operational considerations, or other unforeseen circumstances.

Residents may hear occasional loud noises while the works are being undertaken. The contractor has advised that, while this is considered unlikely, if a warren entrance has not been fully sealed before the R3 concussive device is activated, the resulting noise may sound similar to a car backfiring or a shotgun discharge.

The Shire appreciates your cooperation and understanding while this pest control work is undertaken. These works form part of ongoing efforts to reduce rabbit activity and associated impacts within the service area.

Event Day:
Once you get to Nabawa, turn off Chapman Valley Rd onto Tuart Ave and follow the parking signs to the designated parking area.
Please do not park on the school oval as it is not rated for vehicle movements.
Only those that have booked camping can park around the oval boundary.

🎉 Backroads Weekend Starts TOMORROW!

The countdown is nearly over! Before you hit the start line, make sure you collect your race pack at Friday Participant Check-In.

🕒 3:00pm – 6:00pm

At check-in you can:
✅ Collect your race bib or timing plate
🛍️ Pick up your pre-ordered merchandise
👕 Grab any last-minute Backroads merch (while stocks last)
🙌 Soak up the pre-event atmosphere and get race ready!

Don't forget your eTicket, which will be emailed to all participants during race week.

Can't make it on Friday? No worries! You can also check in on Saturday morning from 7:00am–9:15am at the Nabawa Football Oval before your event.

We can't wait to welcome everyone to Backroads Gravel 2026. See you tomorrow! 🚴🏃

This 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟖𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 the Backroads Gravel Ride & Run will take place again, starting and finishing in Nabawa and showcasing our beautiful Chapman Valley. ⁣

Now in its fifth year, there are over 1,500 entries making it the biggest yet. ⁣
⁣
The 2026 event features five cycling distances (160km, 100km, 65km, 20km and 10km) 𝐍𝐎𝐖 𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐒𝐎𝐋𝐃 𝐎𝐔𝐓 and four gravel running courses (Marathon, Half Marathon, 14km and 5km) 𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐀𝐕𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐁𝐋𝐄 𝐁𝐔𝐓 𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐅𝐀𝐒𝐓. The event has an aim of being fun and inclusive to all, with a range of courses catering for all ages and abilities.⁣
