Notice for Nangus residents. There will be a stubble burn in the paddock to the southern side of Nangus rd in the village this afternoon at approx 1pm.

The bush fire danger period ended last night across the South West Slopes Zone.

When conducting burning on your property, you are required to notify your neighbours and the NSW RFS at least 24 HOURS before you light up all year around.

You can notify the NSW RFS by visiting www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify or by contacting the Harden Fire Control Centre during business hours on 02 6386 1700.

The Bush Fire Danger Period will end on the 1st of April 2026 across the Cootamundra Gundagai and Hilltops LGA’s. Permits will no longer be required from that date, you are still required to notify your neighbours and the NSW RFS at least 24 hours before you light up.

Crews from Nangus Brigade responded to a fast moving grass fire at the 5 mile this afternoon. Fire all but contained now, unfortunately one structure was destroyed. Quick response from all brigades with 50 rfs appliances on scene. Nangus trucks have left the fire ground and now returned to station
