NSW SES Camden Unit

NSW SES Camden Unit In 1957 Bruce Ferguson was appointed the controller of the organisation. The main operational activities at the time were related to flooding.

Mr Ferguson remained controller for 17 years, in which a basic flood warning system for the Nepean River was developed and a flood boat was obtained as a gift from the local Apex Club.

60 years since the formation of the Camden Civil Defence Organisation, Camden SES Unit has become an integral component of the developing Camden community. Since Mr Ferguson, there have been 6 controllers of the

unit. In 2011, the Camden Unit relocated from John Street, Camden to their current headquarters on Queen Street, Narellan. The unit has grown to have over 40 active members, who are all volunteers. Camden SES works closely alongside other agencies and has continuous support from Sydney Southern Region and NSW SES State Headquarters.

This year, Camden SES has had the honor of attending and participating in the ANZAC day dawn service and march in Camden.

Today, we honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation 111 years ago, their spirit lives on through the people that continue to serve or have served in the Australian Defence Force.

We look back on their resilience and courage during this conflict and see that it continues to inspire us, others and generations to come.

👷🏼TUESDAY NIGHT TRAINING🪜

This week at Camden SES, some of our newer members have been in the spotlight.

Tonight, part of our unit have started their Storm training, focussing on the ground aspect of storm incidents and jobs. This will lead them into becoming offical qualified members of Camden SES, being able to assist in all major aspects of SES incidents and jobs.

Our newest set of trainees are currently completing their first training course. Job Ready is the very first thing that new members learn about, it asks the questions, what the SES is, how we operate and the things that we are involved with as well as an introduction to the courses that they will learn about later on.

Camden SES prides itself in making sure all of our members are competent and ready for when disaster hits.
