🚨Stubble burning is an important tool for rice growers, as we embrace the transition into autumn, we urge rice growers to exercise caution and mindfulness when burning stubble to prepare for the new season.

The RGA's Stubble Burning App can be used to assist growers to plan and manage stubble burns. It has been specifically designed for use during the autumn months when the mixing height (inversion layer) can drop to levels that prevents smoke from dispersing into the atmosphere. The weather data provided is generated for your location by computer models so it is important to check the in-paddock conditions before and during your burn.

Type in "Stubble Burning App" in your Google Play Store or Apple's App Store.

🔥 There is a Total Fire Ban (TOBAN) in place for Friday 05 December 2025, in the MIA District.

This includes the LGA's of Carrathool, Griffith, Hay, Leeton Murrumbidgee and Narrandera.

⚠️A TOBAN means no fires out in the open.
⚠️A TOBAN helps limit the potential of fires developing.
⚠️During a TOBAN you cannot light, maintain or use a fire in the open, or to carry out any activity in the open that causes, or is likely to cause, a fire.
⚠️General purpose hot works (such as welding, grinding or gas cutting or any activity that produces a spark or flame) are not to be done in the open.
⚠️The NSW RFS strongly recommends you reconsider activities such as such using a tractor or slashing, to help reduce the chance of a fire starting on your property.
⚠️Permits are suspended on days of total fire ban. Permits may resume after the total fire ban is lifted, as long as the permit hasn't expired.

More information on TOBAN rules, visit the RFS website:

Attention landholders.
Please take the time today to double check on your hay. This stack had been cured for nearly three weeks, bailed into rounds, checked daily and still went up.
