πŸ§‘β€πŸš’ meet our 2026 stair climb participants πŸ§‘β€πŸš’

600 firefighters, 28 flights of stairs, carrying up to 25kg of gear 🀯 and this year we have 14 incredible operational firefighters taking on the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb challenge. Today we introduce you to our next participant.

Say Hello to Norm.

Why have you decided to participate?

I decided that I had become a little bit comfortable and complacent. I needed a challenge to push myself, to be better for myself, my family, and my community.

We have currently raised over $7,200 for this event! If you wish to support our crew you too can donate with the link below πŸ‘‡πŸ».

🚨 Safety Tip Saturday 🚨

‼️ Fires caused by heating appliances increase during winter months.

πŸ”₯ Brick chimneys and gas heaters should be checked before winter to prevent fires and carbon monoxide poisoning.

🧯ALWAYS extinguish open fires before leaving your home or going to sleep.

🧼 Chimneys and flues should be cleaned annually.

πŸš’ The CFA (Country Fire Authority) has put together important information regarding the safe use of heating appliances.

πŸ‘©β€πŸš’ meet our 2026 Stair Climb participants πŸ‘©β€πŸš’

This year we are proud to have 14 operational firefighters participating in the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb. Today we introduce you to our first participant. Say Hello to Jessica.

Jessica why have you decided to participate?

I decided to participate because I want to help raise money and awareness for causes that are very close to my heart. I have lost two family members who battled cancer and who were both very important to me. My best friend was also diagnosed with breast cancer late last year and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. Watching her strength throughout this journey has been incredibly inspiring, and I wanted to do something meaningful to support others facing similar challenges.

We are currently 1st in the Brigade/Station Donation Leaderboard. You can help us raise funds for the three incredibly worthy charities - Lifeline, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and 000 Foundation (and help us stay on top of that leaderboard πŸ˜‰) by donating via the link below:

πŸ§‘πŸ’™β€οΈ Thank a First Responder Day β€οΈπŸ’™πŸ§‘

Today we say Thank You to those in our community who step forward when others are in need of help.

To all first responders across the country we say Thank You for all the sacrifices you make, the challenges you face, the dedication you display, the moments and milestones you miss just to show up when others need you the most.

To our brigade members who dedicate so much time behind the scenes and when attending fire calls, we Thank You for your service to our local community.

If you see a first responder out and about today, and it is safe to do so, show your appreciation today with a Hello πŸ‘‹πŸ» or a Thank You πŸ™πŸ».

🚨 Safety Tip Saturday 🚨

‼️ Smoke alarms save lives. We have all heard it and we all know it to be true but have you checked your smoke alarms lately?

πŸ§‘β€βš–οΈ Since 1 August 1997 it has been law in Victoria that all free standing homes, townhomes and units MUST have operating smoke alarms.

πŸš’ The CFA (Country Fire Authority) has put together important information regarding the installation and maintenance of smoke alarms.

πŸ§β€β™‚οΈ This includes information on smoke alarms for those who are hard of hearing or deaf.

Please take the time to visit this link below, share it with your families and friends or tag them in this Narre Warren Fire Brigade CFA post:

β€ΌοΈπŸš’ Happening Now πŸš’β€ΌοΈ

UPDATED: 2:15pm. Scene has been left in the hands of Victoria Police.

We are on scene at an MVA outside Casey Central, Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road, Narre Warren South.

Due to the MVA a light pole has come down and that is causing significant traffic issues and detours.

Please avoid this area. If you do have to commute through here please adhere to the reduced speed limit and keep our crews safe!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing β€œMums” in our community πŸ‘©πŸ‘΅πŸ’. Today we celebrate you!

We want to send a special mention to all the incredible women in our brigade who step away from their jobs, their families and their children to support our local community. Each of you provides a valuable contribution to not only our local community but to our fire brigade through your passion, integrity, hard work and dedicationπŸ‘©β€πŸš’.

Each year on May 4th, International Firefighters Day, we say Thank You to our firefighters.

This day was established in 1999 after the horrific loss of 5 firefighters in the Linton Bushfire in Western Victoria, on December 2nd 1998.

It is a day to reflect, recognise and give gratitude to those we have lost and those who still run towards danger when others are told to leave.

Today we thank our incredible brigade members, colleagues from all fire services along with Firefighters around the world who protect communities, stand with those in times of crisis and dedicate their lives to the service.
