🎉 This is a significant milestone for Casey's growing community!

After years of advocacy by Council and our community, Big Build Roads have announced the completion of the Thompsons Road and Berwick-Cranbourne Road Intersection Upgrade, delivering safer, more reliable journeys for the more than 47,000 vehicles that travel through the corridor each day.

This marks an important step towards improving connections across Melbourne's south-east and helping you get where you need to go safely and quickly.

Thank you to everyone who supported calls for this much-needed upgrade. We will continue advocating for the roads and infrastructure you need.

🚧 Better maintained roads are a community priority.

That's why the City of Casey is advocating for regular maintenance of state-managed roads and roadside assets, along with safer intersections and improved traffic flow to support our growing community.

Recent community feedback identified maintenance of non-Council roads as a top priority. Residents highlighted potholes and overgrown roadside vegetation as safety concerns, while weeds, rubbish and graffiti were identified as issues that reduce local amenity.

🎉 Building Momentum for a Better Casey

The proposed $607 million investment in the Thompsons Road Upgrade and Extension would help deliver safer, more reliable travel, reduce pressure on local roads, and connect communities across Cardinia Shire Council and the City of Casey.

The Thompsons Road Upgrade and Extension will create a vital new east-west transport corridor connecting Casey and Cardinia, reducing congestion, improving access to jobs and services, and supporting future economic growth across Melbourne’s south-east.

It's a project we've long advocated for because our rapidly growing region needs transport infrastructure that keeps pace with demand, and jobs closer to where residents live.

Over recent months, we conducted 12 community popups across Casey to hear from residents on which advocacy priorities are most important to them.

Overwhelmingly the community has told us that Better Transport and Roads are at the top of their priority lists.

You might like to show your support on some of these issues like the Clyde Rail Link, bus network improvements, and various road and road maintenance projects.

Visit https://conversations.casey.vic.gov.au/bettercasey/transport-and-roads to show your support as we continue to advocate to all candidates in the leadup to the November election.

The Victorian State Election on Saturday 28 November is a critical moment for our community. As one of the fastest‑growing areas in Victoria, Casey needs state investment to keep pace with the infrastructure and services our residents rely on.

Building a Better Casey is Council’s advocacy campaign, calling for clear commitments from candidates and political parties to support Casey’s priority projects. Our advocacy reflects what residents have told us matters most and is guided by community feedback, expert advice, and input from advocacy partners.

Our priorities focus on:

🚆 Better Transport and Roads - improving rail and road connections to support jobs and movement
🏫 Community Infrastructure - investing in libraries, recreation centres and service hubs
🌱 Safe and Thriving Communities - supporting wellbeing, early years infrastructure and active transport
